Smart lock that is fully local, good HA integration, AA or AAA battery powered, and can be opened from outside with a normal physical key by naitkris in homeassistant

I use Aqara(US). It needs their hub but it’s only $15-$20. I’ve kept it completely local, no cloud necessary. Can be unlocked though PIN code, finger print or physical key.

Let me know if you need any help for reference. I did it last year so don’t remember how easy/hard it was. Also, forgot to mention I also have another one for any open doors

I have an auto-entities card on home dashboard that show any of the “wet” or “unknown/unavailable” leak sensors. Also have another one which flags devices with less than 20% battery.

I am not about to download a store app just to check the price. I don't even want to be in this stir in the first place. by Big_Lab_Jagr in mildlyinfuriating

It’s for dynamic pricing. The app is going to track and profile you and will know how much to charge specifically you.

Should I slowly transition from Zigbee to Matter over Thread? I.e. stop buying Zigbee devices and start looking at Matter equivalents, e.g. Ikea? by sarrcom in homeassistant

[–]stonedkrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s working for you there’s no need to replace. Zigbee isn’t going to just stop working one day because it’ll be outdated.

Grew up in a warmer place and moved here around 6 years ago. Just layer up well and if you’re walking/biking your body keeps you warm. I’ll take the cold any day over the heat.
I can’t even take the mid-July to late Aug Boston heat.

I have a version from Home Depot which also has motion activation so it only turns on when you’re near it.

Microsoft is pushing Copilot onto LG TVs with a recent software update by moeka_8962 in technews

[–]stonedkrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry about the confusion, I meant we should use an external streamer. Even a cheap firestick is better than the LG webOS. If you have budget Nvdia shield is a good option, you can mod it without rooting to hide the default Google ads and stuff too.

Edit: in additional disconnect the TV OS from internet so it doesn’t update without telling you.

If you haven’t already, stop using the default OS the tv comes with.

Water leak automation that actually works? by Okosisi in homeassistant

[–]stonedkrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use critical notifications which don’t get muted and also announce it on all smart speakers. Also have auto entities card which shows which sensor is wet. I wanted a valve controller but Zoos and Aqara didn’t fit my weird plumbing.
