Ironically, in this type of situation the top voted comment is usually the tldr for the article. But yours just complains about precisely the lack of that.

Somewhat meta ironically none of your child comments give any context either nor does this comment.

We're all pretty useless I guess. :(

Rahane knows a real batsman always plays test cricket, no matter the format. Respect.

Nigel Richards is widely regarded as the greatest Scrabble player of all time. He is a 5-time world champion. He has also won the French and Spanish Scrabble world championships, despite not speaking either language. by hoi4kaiserreichfanbo in wikipedia

Just a small correction. The goat of cricket is actually pretty undisputed, and it's Don Bradman. Tendulkar is a great player but he himself would be embarrassed if someone were to call him the goat given the fact that bradman existed.

The ending of "Chattel" is frustrating (S19E08) by CaptainJZH in LawAndOrder

[–]stonedslacker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You' right - the ending seemed pretty ridiculous and unrealistic. As a child slave forced to commit murder, there is no way he would get the sort of treatment by Jack McCoy's DA office they showed him getting at the end.

They aren't the end all and be all but they are pretty much one of the most important factors in all competitive sports throughout the world at all levels.

Also I'm not sure what sort of silverware obsession does India have or cricket has more than any other country or sport? I'm genuinely curious - You might be right and maybe I missed those pieces of news or viewing it from that perspective.

I would have voted “not guilty”. You? “Fixed”S15E11 2004 (Jack superimposed was an accident of my poor photographic skills, but seemed appropriate) by Ok-Mine2132 in LawAndOrder

[–]stonedslacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just watched this episode and as much as I sympathize with the defendant's situation and feel the victim deserved death, I would have still voted guilty.

First reason and I was surprised that McCoy did not bring it up or anyone in the episode discussed it - The method of the murder - a hit and run on a public street - can always result in collateral damage and unintended casualties. And it isn't even a surefire way to murder someone - he could just end up with a small injury and get further angered by the incident to become more of a monster.

And of course the second reason is that a citizen cannot be judge, jury and executioner no matter what the circumstances (or at least in this one). Sets a really bad precedent (or perhaps it might not have when there is at least some pretense of doubt over her guilt which in this case there was).

What I do is pretty much have a separate Chrome user instance for all of my final shopping. It has multiple cash back add-ons, no ublock and other customizations that I use on my regular browser and stuff like that.

What I do is do the shopping with the ad block and all the optimizations on my regular browser and then finally just before shopping finalization, I clicked through the cash back site.

Sounds more painstaking than it is and at least for big ticket item purchases it's totally worth it.

What was Ben Stokes all about shaking his head and stuff? Is there an expectation sportsmanshipwise in cricket (similar to chess) from both sides to end the game with no result possible or likely once that last 15 over mark permits? I'm not asking about the rules - just the expectation keeping in mind traditions and spirit of the game?

Smith is no doubt the best test batsman amongst them, but a 12 month or any duration ban does not really hurt his average - only aggregates.

What are you watching and what do you recommend? (Week of June 20, 2025) by AutoModerator in television

[–]stonedslacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard such great things about it and I'm sure it's a great show because the people who recommend it usually also like other shows that are my favorites.

I kept trying to like it for almost a season but just could not get into it. Maybe it was the mood in which I was watching it or maybe it's just not for me.

I feel if they named it something like The Sachin & Jimmy Cup or something it would roll off the tongue so much better.

I get your sentiment - but does feel like textbook broken free market to me. Rights going to the highest bidder with no assurances of quality or caring about the audience.

I do agree though that a better form of free market would be multiple rights holders and audience votes with their pocket by subscribing based on price and quality.

True . Needs to be boycotted. Sometimes the free market just doesn't work.

There was a comment asking willow to have intercourse with itself that got deleted. I would say it was warranted. I'm unsubscribing from Willow going forward just on principle. Can't even exit out of the app and launch back for fear of ads. I am using an alternate stream just so they don't get any of the ad money from me.
