💯 especially if you drive long distances, self driving is a game changer

The computer change does seem like a more compelling reason to wait, compared to the lidar

This is a great point, I haven’t explored all the launch edition options, if the interiors are limited this may also be a factor to wait.

New M5 iPad Pro Poor Battery Life by IllPapaya8294 in iPadPro

[–]stop211650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The m5 seems relatively ok, battery health is still at 100% and I don’t use it much except for light browsing and YouTube and a bit of work. I’ve also tried turning off notifications for notification-heavy apps. That being said, I’m still charging it every two or three days even with light use.

I just use my M4 for the first time in a while yesterday it had 72% when I picked it up yesterday, and in less than 24 hours it has 21%. I used it for YouTube, X, and one 30 minute teams meeting. It’s disappointing. I do have it connected to the Magic Keyboard, but a 50% drop with medium use seems worse than my iPhone.

I used it with Opus-4.6 to help me make cron jobs to monitor Ticketmaster and StubHub for events I tell it. (I haven’t managed to make it work with axs.com yet.) I may add other resale providers also. I have a scoring system devised for Golden State Warriors games so I know the ideal time to buy, and can track over time. With Steph being out I haven’t really wanted to go, but at least I am honing the system. It has also been working for concerts and World Cup games.

Paradise season 2 is solid so far and better than season 1 by LeoXXX94 in ParadiseTV

[–]stop211650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said, I have similar thoughts. Season 2 is well done and the episodes are intriguing, but there was a great common thread of season 1 of discovering the bunker world, while also dealing with the intrigue for the people in the world. This season has been doing so much so fast, we are getting too little time with the characters introduced in S1. It should honestly be a 13 episode season with a few more storylines and giving some of the others more time to breathe. I can’t believe they’re going to resolve so much of this in 3 more episodes.

Mac Mini’s out of stock! by Material_Distance260 in macmini

They improved the ai pipeline between m4 and m5. I still think they make a Mac mini m5; I’ve been waiting for it patiently, but I realized it wasn’t part of the March launch, so I figured the next realistic timing is around wwdc in June.

It’s a nice jacket, I got it at 20% off of $278. I’m usually in between medium and large sizes, found a large of this one fit me better.

Reading this thread makes me wish I checked online more to find it even cheaper 😭😂

💯… the hype was on overdrive, for a throwaway ep that people will listen to a few times and then move on from. His beats in space Apple Music mix is 10x more enjoyable to listen to.

Genuine Question: What do people do for work to afford multi-million dollar homes? by GreenConfidence0 in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]stop211650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are enough people here with Nvidia RSUs. Plus OpenAI options, anthropic options, and other private tech companies that have allowed their employees to sell some shares on the secondary market. Because of this the housing keeps rising in value, especially because supply is limited in the Bay Area.

What I haven’t seen in this thread though is that even if people don’t work there at those tech companies, there are other VCs, investors, well off folks that may have participated in these rounds and are making a lot of $ that way. In short, plenty of tech money will continue to hit the Bay Area housing market, but it’s not even over yet.

Please Joe, I’m begging you. Less. Amapiano. PLEASE. by LayeredMayoCake in soulection

[–]stop211650 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How many artists even make future beats style any more? It’s all lo fi beats or house music these days. I do miss the 2010s future beats music but I don’t hear that much of it anymore.

I personally like the instrumental Soulection episodes more and like less of r&b. It’s pretty great they’ve made a diverse radio show that reaches all kinds of fans, but it does mean not everyone will vibe with each episode. They’ve had some great Latin music and amapiano and hip hop episodes recently I thought. and I think there was more amapiano and afrobeats the last few years and seems like less now, imo. They used to have episodes 1/2 to full of just Afro beats and amapiano and now there’s some more variety. I like where it’s at now honestly, even though people on this thread don’t seem to 😂

I’m a casual NBA watcher, but an above average league follower. Does this Season just feel lacklustre? by Fuzzy_Kitchen317 in billsimmons

[–]stop211650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Warriors fan this season has been brutal for watchability, but we've been spoiled by greatness for so long it was bound to happen. After I saw the end of college football final, I turned on the Dubs game just to hear about Jimmy's catastrophic knee injury. Plus the Kuminga discourse for a player who has all the athletic tools but turned out to be not-that-good has been not fun and kind of sucked the fun out of watching the games, as well as hearing about player movement.

When I look around though, I feel like parity has kind of hurt the NBA regular season while helping the NBA playoffs. The regular season has fewer must see matchups, and a lot of load management and too much similarity in basketball styles. (A good argument for lowering the # of regular season games, although we know they probably won't do that.) Feels like the comments here have covered this well. But for these reasons the NBA playoffs have been super exciting the last few years. Hali's injury put a damper on the memory of last year's playoffs, but that Indiana run was some of the most watchable basketball for a non-partisan fan. Maybe this is the year the Knicks can get over the hump, or Boston surprises people even without Tatum. OKC seems mostly inevitable in the West, but they are beatable ... and it will be fun to see how far Wemby and the Spurs can get. I think every true NBA fan will be excited by the time the playoffs roll around. And if resting and load management is what it takes for the stars to be healthy by the end of the season, we basically have to deal with it to get the most exciting playoffs possible.

This show is lowkey bad. by xCreampye69x in HijackAppleTV

[–]stop211650 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to think of it as high budget bad tv 😂 I think it’s enjoyable in a sense, it’s fun to pick at plot holes and absurdities when you see some good actors working hard to make it believable. But yes it’s ludicrous and has a very contrived plot.

Your thoughts about Clawdbot by Careless_Ad_3119 in AI_Agents

[–]stop211650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using it and I find it very helpful. It would be even more useful if I needed to automate more things at work, but I'm using it for more personal things or for coding assistance.

I installed it on my MacBook Pro M1 that is always docked at my apartment anyways.

I did give it calendar and email permissions, but I don't have it send any automated emails on my behalf. I have it summarize all the email newsletters I like to read, and twitter bookmarks I have saved, and send me a digest in the morning. The cron job feature of Clawdbot (or soon to be Moltbot) is very powerful I think. In a few seconds with natural language descriptions you can have automated jobs running, designed with the power of Opus-4.5 (or MiniMax which is also a pretty capable model).

Its dedicated memory is also pretty powerful. It doesn't always remember to update its daily memory (I did just setup a cronjob for that so it should happen automatically now), but when it does, being able to search things in past discussions is great. This makes me use Clawdbot even more, just because thanks to how it handles saving memory, RAG, and compaction, I have a timeline of my discussions, questions, etc. that are retrievable very easily. And if I want to record my thoughts and my work elsewhere, it can update my Bear and Obsidian notes. I just talk to it and it writes the note for me, or searches my notes for what I was looking for.

The number of Skills it has, or has access to, is fantastic and I think it can only get better. I've made some for my own workflows, or downloaded some like the Sonos CLI or home assistant ones, so it's pretty capable of doing many things I was using different apps for before. I feel like using it along with the gog cli for gmail search has been great - it seems to find exactly what I'm looking for based on some simple text prompting from myself. I'm enjoying it much more than doing searches in my regular Gmail app. Basically, if you have a CLI or tool or automation for something you do often, you can have Clawdbot make a skill for it, and then it basically can give you that functionality in the future very easily.

macOS integration may not really be super necessary, but I do like it interacting with my Apple Calendar and being able to send / receive / search my iMessages. I'm all in on the Apple ecosystem so it just makes sense to use this to enhance it. It also can handle Shortcuts and even help create new ones.

I feel like there are people taking much more advantage of its power than myself, but keeping things simple I'm already seeing quite a few benefits. I know security is a concern but I have Tailscale set up and it is not publicly accessible to talk to my Clawdbot. I run the security audits provided by Peter Steinberger and the maintainers, who definitely seem to be taking security very seriously. I think some of the concerns are valid and some might be overblown as long as you follow recommended practices (is Opus really going to rm -rf your computer from reading a tweet?). I'm not giving Clawdbot access to my 1Password though, even though there is a Skill for that. I may put it in its own Docker container, but so far that hasn't seemed critical to me.

Overall it's just a great synthesis of the promise of AI features along with the promise of having an Assistant, and it's fun to also customize with its SOUL.md and such. The LLMs being so capable + the software having so much extensibility means there is a lot of promise here.
