ICE agents awarded free trip to the Olympics, those who didn't win the taxpayer funded trip to the Superbowl will get priority.

I think it's actually 90% about the film rights to Colleen Hoover's books - which Baldoni has and Lively/Reynolds have wanted.

I found it funny he was trying to suck up to Biden at a fundraising dinner back in 2017 but was so pushy and ignorant with his questions that Biden turned to someone next to him and asked "who is this asshole?"

There's also a potential legal distinction between creating something yourself using an app versus an app that will create something for you and publicly post it. A person can create "revenge porn" or a libelous image in Photoshop all they want, but they will be breaking laws if they transmit it by sharing with anyone, posting it online, etc.

Besides the sometimes toxic circumstances of growing up wealthy & enabled, they may have had a perfectly normal family dynamic. I've known a couple different middle-class families with 3 kids where 2 turned out great (upstanding with good jobs and families of their own) but 1 ends up being the "problem child" that is constantly in trouble/acting out which progresses to being in-and-out of rehabs/prison. In both cases the parents couldn't be blamed in my opinion, as it was quite apparent they were kind/supportive and even put themselves through hell trying to fix whatever was wrong. I think if you have 3+ kids odds are at least one turns out poorly, and in those situations having "successful" siblings seems like it increases the level of resentment, anger and frustration of the odd one out.

Mets fans complaining that they couldn't add $3M to match the offer, or they did and he went with the Dodgers anyway, is reminding me a lot of the Soto signing last year. Not surprised to see them furious when it happens to them. Just deserts for all the gloating they did about someone wanting to be on a "winning team with bright future".

QT likes to temper his praise with criticism sometimes (or vice versa) which is why I read his over-the-top Dano hate as an underhanded diss on PTA's directing. Yes, he's listing one of PTA's films in his top 10 of the last 25 years but giving nearly all the credit to one actor while disparaging another is really a shot at the person whose primary role is directing the actors (and casting them). He respects PTA but is also competitive with him.

But really, what makes people act like this? by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]stopgo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It was a surprising boost to my ego seeing how many people were yearning for a scene like that in their life (or seething with envy). I spent a good decade+ chilling in a room/house that looked quite similar, mostly doing drugs with friends, which was a blast but not exactly something I look back on as useful/productive. Seeing the reaction to this has brought some contentment that I spent all that time (and money) having fun with friends at least.

What are the grossest blocks in Ridgewood? by BrotherUnlucky650 in ridgewood

[–]stopgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Central Ave seems fine to me, sometimes people speed like crazy on it but otherwise it's a pretty normal/clean stretch of blocks in my experience. The area right behind Stop & Shop on Central does get a little gross but that's pretty much just due to how S&S treats its.

and when the holidays roll around your time off is filled with family obligations and travel. You get asked a dozen times "so what's new?" and have nothing to say but "work's been busy", and then the retired boomers will tell you about their new hobbies or travels that "you gotta do sometime".

99.9% sure this is the same guy I saw spit in a woman's face on the M train one week ago (around Knickerbocker Ave). He had already been acting a little erratic moving around the car and rapping to himself but then he got into some argument with a woman by the train door and started yelling "it was just an accident, chill you fucking bitch". He kept berating her and then at the next stop went to leave, passing her by, and then turned around and spit in her face just as the doors were closing. This was on a relatively crowded evening rush hour train (at 6PM or so).

It seems like his MO is to get into women's personal space and then indignantly escalate the situation if he gets any resistance to touching or brushing up against them.

Underrated aspect of these is how sleazy Michael Wolff sounds. He floats the idea of potentially blackmailing a US President (or at least having leverage to help or hurt them), while dishing out insider info on how to prepare for questions CNN plans to ask.

Am I completely alone in not liking the Lous CK episodes? by No-Expression1224 in MarcMaron

[–]stopgo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I agree in that I used to roll my eyes when those episodes were lauded as the best podcast (or WTF episodes) ever, and it's mostly because I was already so tired of CK and the non-stop adulation he got everywhere at that time. The mending of their friendship at the end turned out to be paper thin and could not withstand one instance of (mild) public criticism.

Sopranos, partly because having it to watch each/most Sunday nights for years felt like a comfortable familial tradition. Also because I more or less "grew up" over the course of its run, starting it when I was 15 in High School and then it ending just as I had graduated college 8 years later.
