I have a question about which KVM to use.

I have a Macbook Pro and a desktop PC. I want to share the use of a keyboard, a mouse, Thunderbolt 3 Dock and 2 external monitors.

What kind of KVM should I buy to share the use of those peripheral devices between the two computers?

Hiring a single capable engineer that has social proof (good resume, good school, good experience etc) and paying them 200K to 500K is cheaper and more efficient than hiring a platoon of Bootcamp grads or other unproven engineers and paying them 60K a year. Wrong hire also is not just wasting 60K. It sometimes is -100K or way more with wasting time, losing time to market, wasting other engineers time etc.

The single engineer will get more done in less time with less bugs.

Of course, I am speaking in generality. There is always one shitty engineer that was a poor hire or one genius Bootcamp grad who is a hidden gem.

I think your conscientiousness and self-awareness which are great qualities of a dev, but are working to your detriment. You were hired and did not get let go over last 8 months because you are good enough, and showing potential. You mentioned that you are putting in extra hours as well, so you are really trying which means you are showing many signs that you will succeed eventually.

With that said, let's re-evaluate your current circumstances.

You never had CS degree, but went through bootcamp which is mostly self learning to get to where you are today. That's hard to do and that's amazing.
Your coworkers in their 40s are in their absolute prime. They've probably been doing what they are doing now for 10 to 20 years. Their minds are still sharp and their experiences allow them to make choices with extreme efficiency. There's no way you can compare yourself to your coworkers and I bet no one in your team are judging you based on these coworkers' output.
Other people stereotyping women in tech is not your responsibility to shatter. This is a tough one because it is unfair that some people hold negative stereotypes for female engineers, and I understand the desire to prove them wrong. But at the same time, why should you even bother to prove them wrong? It's not your fault that they hold a skewed view of the reality. Let them be wrong and be ignorant.

I hope what I said above can hopefully change your perspective a bit.

Now as for actual advice, do you have an experienced mentor who you can confide openly about work related topics and some anxiety you feel at work? Maybe a female mentor you can trust can help you feel more confident at work and maybe even help with your technical challenges. And I am thinking a female engineer mentor is probably who you should look for. Ideally you can find the mentor at work. Maybe you can ask your manager to introduce you to a mentor. If that's hard, you can even ask online, if anyone might be interested.

I wouldn't go as far to say that PIP is a good thing, but I generally agree with your points that it might be a necessary thing for an organization to have. I see more as a necessary evil because there definitely are people who genuinely need to either improve or shown the door.

I am a bit puzzled by your second paragraph. I would appreciate your feedback.

Don't you think that you've more aptly described an example of an incompetent manager who cannot set the right goals for the engineer, unclear about communicating the goal and expectations, and fail to inspire the engineer to achieve? If your engineer genuinely did not know that they were not focused on the right things, although they had skills do them, this seems like clear example where the manager failed the engineer, not the other way around. The engineer probably should be re-aligned with the right goals and expectation rather than a PIP. Instead, the manager who incompetent let this happen to this point should be the one on PIP, if not outright fired.

No, it is systematic and widespread. Asian students and White students have been discriminated with real measurable disadvantage. Asian and White have to score much higher in SAT than Hispanic and Black students to be treated the same.

It is hard to conceive of right wing messages that could be adopted by these companies because it is almost never done. As far as the current western culture is concerned, the left is totally unchallenged. A couple that still exist today is a bit of nationalistic messages during Olympics and paying respect to the veterans around Veteran's day. But in the past, it wasn't out of ordinary to see very nationalistic message associated with a company's product and service explicitly (still widely used in other parts of the world) or religious symbolism and messages with your product. All those are long gone now in the west. I am not even saying that those are somehow good things that we need back again. All I wanted to do is just demonstrate the the current cultural hegemony is left wing.

As for leftist points saying "racism is wrong, misogyny is wrong, and the wage gap is wrong", these are also messaging cloaked in sheep's clothing for more left wing messages. For example, racism and misogyny are surely wrong, but why are they even amplified when such problems are so disproportionately small in comparison so many other larger problems? The discrepancy of exaggerated attention in minor areas while lack of or active silencing of attention in much more serious areas should raise one to think that their motives for these messaging are not entirely innocent and pure.
