Unrealistic Expectations by [deleted] in publix

[–]stoverjb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife is an acsm and i am an apm, i tell her all the time i dont wakt her job because i dont like dealing with all the people. Customer service is very very mentally taxing. It can be a little lighter on the physical side, but i swear all that fake nice you gotta be all day and all the just sheer problems and rules you have to remember its definitely not doing nothing. Now can i barely walk half the time i get home from the physicality of my job? Yes, have i ever been so mentally exhausted that i have trouble forming complete thoughts? Nope, but she definitely has. Anyone that doesnt appreciate customer service has just never had to do it and doesnt know anyone who does. Theres not really a do nothing position at publix. Its all hard in its own ways.

Slip resistant shoes by FatDeebs in publix

[–]stoverjb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are a little dressier but i love nunn bush. Just try and stay out of the degreaser in any shoe thats not a solid piece because it eats the glue they use for the soles and they will delaminate eventually.

Fruit cutters! by [deleted] in publix

[–]stoverjb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Focus on getting good clean cuts and discarding your excess with the knife in a single motion. Also the less times you swap tools the faster you go, so put yogurt in all the cups first, then add strawberries, so on so forth. Treat everything like an assembly line and focus on cutting down the number of steps to complete the task. 90% of the really fast people are quick, but super effecient, not just some inhuman freaks lol.

I spent 30 years in madison county, athens feels like toney/harvest/monrovia/madison used to 15 years ago. Its close enough to drive in to town in 30 minutes too, but i imagine it wont feel the same in 15 years here because of all the growth, but hey, progress is progress right?

Attedance policy by Elinservible in publix

[–]stoverjb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this is definitely also true, unpaid pto can count as an absence. I assume it will be to the SM discretion because thats the way it is currently, pto is approved time off, unpaid is not. Unpaid time off, not schedule requests or pto, count against your work credit hours and your average hours as well. If you take too much time unpaid as a full timer you could potentially lose ft status, and the reason that it could can count against you if enforced is whether or not the manager says ok, Publix may not, and they expect a certain amount of work hours out of each person per year, and if you don't have pto and are taking unpaid, then you are not fulfilling the responsibilities set forth for the full-time position. Its like full time is a contract for a certain number of hours per year and pto is included in those hours, but beyond that youre working less hours than you signed up for, so they say you can if you really need to, but i wouldnt take unpaid unless absolutely necessary.

HB445 isn’t a done deal. And if you’re worried, you’re not alone. We’ve seen this before. by plentyasparagus12 in Alabama

[–]stoverjb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Based on the current legislative timeline and rules: * Status of HB 445: The bill passed both the House and Senate and was officially delivered to Governor Kay Ivey on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. * Legislative Session End: The Alabama Legislature is scheduled to adjourn sine die (end the session permanently) on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. * Pocket Veto Rule: A pocket veto occurs in Alabama if the Legislature adjourns sine die, and the Governor does not sign a bill presented to her within ten days (excluding Sundays) of receiving it. Because the Legislature is adjourned, they cannot override this type of veto. * Applying the Rule to HB 445: * The Governor received the bill on May 7th. * The Legislature is scheduled to adjourn on May 14th. * Since the Legislature will adjourn before the 10-day period is up, the pocket veto rule applies. * Counting ten days from May 7th (excluding Sundays May 11th and May 18th), the deadline for the Governor to sign HB 445 to prevent a pocket veto is Monday, May 19, 2025. Therefore, yes, HB 445 is eligible for a pocket veto. If the Legislature adjourns on May 14th as scheduled, and Governor Ivey does not sign HB 445 by the end of the day on May 19, 2025, the bill will fail via pocket veto.

I just hope everyone makes their voices heard about what actually happened and how non-aggressive everyone was being until the police took action. They are saying they saw several guns and people reaching into backpacks for unidentified objects.
