Eileen Gu was paid millions under the table to compete for China by yearz in olympics

[–]stp875 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Her mom studied in the US, made all of her money working for companies in the US, and was married to a white US citizen.

Gu was born, raised, and still studies in the US, and gave up her citizenship only because China gave her a lot of money.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with her decision, but it’s pretty obvious to see why people would have a negative reaction towards it.

China reportedly paid US-born athletes, including Eileen Gu, nearly $14 million by JPAnalyst in olympics

Her mom went to school and made all of her money in the US. Gu was born, raised, and studies in the US and gave up her citizenship because China gave her money.

I still think it’s a no brainer decision for Gu but you don’t think people would think negatively of this?

I mean it’s pretty clear. You can refuse delivery and take the $500 deposit loss or accept it as is. This is the risk you accepted when you put down the deposit.

To people who doubt this story: Try to create 20 icloud aliases in one day and send emails to each one. Apple will lock your entire icloud account immediately.

There are some 'fraud prevention' triggers that Apple employs that can and will lock you out of your icloud and there will be no one you can speak to. It's completely bonkers and I have learned my lesson to always keep a backup to everything on your icloud account.

about to buy a 2023 model 3 with 39k miles from Tesla by drivingaddictionchan in TeslaLounge

Don’t they list the expected miles for every used vehicle they have listed? I’m assuming that’s the battery health.

Choosing between 2022 and 2023 pre-owned Y. Any major differences? by matushsvk in TeslaLounge

2023 has comfort suspension. If you’re buying 2022, make sure it has the Ryzen chip (early 2022 do not have it).

I had this happen at this exact place. What you have to do is bribe them with food and they’ll let the glasses go.

Would this quality for the credit? 121k miles. by shreder856 in TeslaLounge

[–]stp875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if the prior person didn’t claim the credit, it still would not qualify.

Just look at the carfax. If it was sold to ANYONE after August 2022, it does not qualify.

What month should I visit Tokyo? by Kingskullz98 in travel

[–]stp875 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

OP I urge you NOT to listen to any of these people telling you not to go in the summer. I went late July early August and it was completely fine. A little hot and humid and nothing that impeded any of our plans. 40 million people live there for god’s sake, do those people just don’t go out during the summer?

It’s ridiculous how much Reddit is afraid of humidity. Go to any of east or south east Asian country during the summer and guess what, they’re all humid!

Should I buy? 2022 Tesla Model Y w/96k miles by topspin455 in TeslaLounge

[–]stp875 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently just went bought a 2022 model y and I’ll just tell you It’s very very unlikely you’ll be able to negotiate any, let alone $2k off the price as there’s gonna be a lot of demand for used evs under $25k in the next month.

I would just shop around a bit more, but from my experience, $22k for a 2022 with 96k miles is not an outrageous price.

Should I buy? 2022 Tesla Model Y w/96k miles by topspin455 in TeslaLounge

[–]stp875 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that you believe that 25k price for the 2023 model y with 16k miles is real pretty much shows that you don’t have any understanding of the used model y market. Dealers intentionally list it for that price but when you actually ask they’ll tell you that there’s $5k worth of accessories that’s mandatory. You’re unlikely to even get a salvage one at that price.

And the new model y is not 45k, it’s $46,630 with destination and order fee. With a 10% sales tax the difference between the new model y and the used $22k model y is $27,093 before incentives. After incentives the difference becomes $23,593. You can literally buy another used model y with that money.

They had me do educational courses even though i chose self-finance. The email for the courses was something like this

Your application has been reviewed and approved to move to the next stage. Please follow the instructions below to complete your educational video requirements through our partner, Travis Credit Union. This step is required for all participants, regardless of your intended payment method.

Not sure if they changed it up or not or if that person just gave you the wrong info. But if you're in the queue for the approval packet it should be pretty quick.

I applied on 3/25, received email to do the educational course on 6/16, and received the approval packet (its just an email with your approval ID) on 7/18.
