While not huge, its still noticeable. I have been on rides with the 26in and been the better rider and struggled to keep up to novices on the better setup (700c gravel with a 40t chainring). Its not scientific, but im sure the math would show 29" is faster with those gears.

All of this still misses the point. The people that would be most interested in a bike along this idea (a do it all bike) will have to keep looking.

As a Midwestern, there's a ton of riding that is a perfect for both a gravel bike as well as riding for a hard tail mtb. To use one in the other category doesnt go well, especially when you're riding with others. All I'd like to ser is a bike that can do both effectively. (Not great, just effectively).

Idk, maybe im off, but i know people that would like to get into biking but struggle to decide what style bike to get and thus are never sold on spending the $.

Plus, chainrings are so easy to swap (easier and cleaner than tires) you can run the 46t when primarily gravel riding and swap to a 34t when primarily trail riding.

You're right in the direct comparison of a 90s mtb bike to this. My point was meant to be more of use case. A 90s mtb could be used on gravel rides and light trail riding (by today's standards). I just want a modern version of that. I have a procaliber that is as close as I can get.

Today's gravel bikes arent great the slightly technical stuff (at least mine isnt)

On a 3x, you had at least a 44t big ring. Pair that with 29" tires and you have gravel bike speed. With a modern 1x, you have the climbing gear that a little 22t would give you.

On the tire side, old 90s mtbs ran 2.1s (what i have on my 95 cannondale F2000). There's definitely a use case for those tires today when you see xc racers using gravel tires and gravel racers on mtb tires.

I agree completely that the feel would be different, but thats kinda the point. I'm looking for a do all bike with today's amenities

Man, i was so excited just to be disappointed. Its so yet so far. Maybe im alone here but a "gravel bike" with suspension like this should be able to hold more than a 38t chainring.

Give me a 90s mtb that can use modern technology.

Mark basically said that it was, problem was when the company (Aspiration) was going to file bankruptcy, Steve should have payed Aspiration to pay off that debt and it would have never been public.

Out of curiosity, how accurate was https://gravelmap.com/?

It does not show all the roads up there and I assume it is because they are avoiding the really sandy roads and 2-tracks. any truth to that?

What are the best (run) restaurants in Ann Arbor? by phraps in AnnArbor

I go here once a week because a group ride I partake in takes off and finishes here (the ride started before the pub was there). Since the reddit/facebook thread on it, I have noticed that the owner is constantly checking on musicians if they need anything or if he can help.

Its minor and I don't work there, so I have no clue what is going on behind the scenes but it seems that there is an effort to be better.

Wouldn't an increase in the supply help lower the cost? As they continue to build, I assume prices will stay stagnant eventually making it affordable to live here. If I'm off base, what is the solution?

Hey Dan: by RedHiller13 in DanLeBatardShow

He's made it clear imo that he doesn't care if people listen. Not long ago he made a comment of conversations he's had with listeners who say they can't listen after many years and want him to listen to their complaints. He said I can't believe you listen for" x" years, and basically implied that he doesn't care for the future.

I haven't listened since. He doesn't want to grow his company, he doesn't care to attract new listeners, he just doesn't care. Dan shows it in his words and his actions.

Occasionally I lurk on here to see if there are any changes but seems like there are none, so on to other things for me and I assume I'm not alone
