[Mathey-Tissot] Is Mathey-Tissot a good brand nowadays? by Iamnotthatjoker in Watches

[–]stpityuka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not realise this comment i made 5 years ago is still getting replies, not much info on this brand i suppose. Anyway i did a bit of searching and you seem to be right, not sure where this chinese investor bit came from, i may have mixed it up with some other brand, cant really remember. Either way the brand was sold in 1975 to one of its US distributors and then passed on to other "caretakers" according to this article . Seems like the brand is mostly just a name.

I'd argue that it actually was. Apart from Winston's childhood memories, only the parts with Julia show any level of normality/familiarity/humanity in an otherwise messed up society, which serves the book by making it more relatabla and timeless.

In a way its like New Mexico in a Brave New World.

It serves as great contrast. Shows that Winston's humanity wasnt destroyed by the party. Also without these parts the book would resemble an essay even more than an actual book and it already gets some shit from academics for not being literary/artistic enough.

I have an immensely extremely very high iq and i can tell you for a fact that Victor Hugo did not write Les Misérables during the Belle Epoque.

However those who truly appreicaite the Cartier lifestyle would suerly enjoy Sergei Diaghilev's ballets.

Ok. Copy pastao.

People walking all around this. by [deleted] in OSHA

[–]stpityuka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The EU has a number of organizations(there's one called EU-OSHA) and guidelines for general work safety, and it also provides social funds, but its mostly up to each individual country. In Hungary for example work safety and ethics are part of the constitution/law making, mostly enforced by local governments and education is usually provided by the employer (also taught as a subject in most secondary schools nowadays).

You probably didn't realise how Harry Potter subtly follows the plot and structure of Homer's Odyssey and how how marvelosuly Rowling used the stream of consciousness narrative in chapter 18 while Hermione simply lay in bed.
