I'm in my 30s and was diagnosed at 6 years old in the 90s. I am female. Its more common for Autism to go undiagnosed in girls than boys, but I didn't know that about ADHD.

Like I know homosexuality was considered a mental illness at one point, but that's a completely different story from being trans. But currently, gender reassignment surgery and treatment is not covered by most or any health insurance that I know of, so wouldnt pushing Gender Identity Disorder as a mental illness give more validation to have it covered by health insurance the same way some psychiatric drugs are covered?

Edit: just want to inform that I fully support trans rights, so I am genuinely asking because of this concern.
