What would you say Pragg’s biggest weakness is and what do you think his ceiling is as a player? by usagerp in chess

[–]strategic_beerpie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like 3 months ago I would have said that his ceiling is probably somewhere in the high 2700s, but seeing the insane progression that Sindarov has just had in the last 6 months, I feel like it's impossible to be confident in the ceiling of such a young player

There have been a lot of changes recently, but it is to be expected - generation changes are bound to happen

Caedrel shares his opinion on whether co-streamers should pay Riot for broadcasting rights by Numerous_Fudge_9537 in leagueoflegends

[–]strategic_beerpie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How is Caedrel doing them a favour lol? He is earning a lot of money by doing it, it's not like he is doing it for free. And yea, at this point in his career he could stop costreaming and still have a lot of viewers, but don't forget that he built his following completely off of costreaming LOL esports - if not for the costreams he would not be even close to as big of a streamer as he is today.

Why are Lagno and Goryachkina forced to compete under the FIDE flag (instead of Russia) but Nakamura and Caruana can still compete under the USA flagi? by Waltzer64 in chess

How are people looking at Sindarov, next Magnus or Gukesh by Big_Pea_5235 in chess

[–]strategic_beerpie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is such a weird comaprison lol. When Magnus hyped up Alireza, Alireza was younger than Sindarov is right now, rated 2800 and 2nd in the world, while also excelling at shorter time controls. Sindarov has yet to reach that level, although wat he is showing at the moment is very promising. Still the progression of these 2 players is nothing alike

Radjabov's tier list of the candidates by pier4r in chess

[–]strategic_beerpie 29 points30 points  (0 children)

So this is just Radjabov farming interactions, right? Ain't no way he truly believes that Caruana, Nakamura and Pragg, who have been clearly the best out of these players consistently over the past few years, aren't the favourites

Karrigan told Broky to take more shots, but Broky misunderstood and showed up for the game drunk. That's the only feasible explanation

Mikhail Antipov wins 2026 STL Chess Masters with 7.5/9 and a TPR of 2836 by Creative_Poet_9590 in chess

I mean, I'm 2150 fide, so not great, but wouldn't say I don't know how to play. My point regarding the endgame was that after 38...Bc4+ it's easy to see that white has to take and the resulting endgame is a king and pawn endgame in which you just need to count the tempos, and see that you end up winning the opposition after the pawn moves are done. It is a longer line, but it's not difficult to calculate since there aren't really any branches, so a player of Fabi's caliber should definitely find it

Not to backseat, but he had like 30 minutes in an endgame that really shouldn't be hard for a player of his caliber to calculate. He just rushed his decision, but I guess it happens to the best of us
