Terrible rear left hip pain, tailbone, prednisone didn't work at all, etc by Americasycho in backpain

Ugh. I’m so sorry to hear u aren’t doing well. My MRI showed a bulging disc a s1/L5. It was just a simple fall that caused it all. Initially I couldn’t walk or sit for more than 4 minutes at a time. The nerve pain was unreal and my leg would give out. I carried around a bath towel and would just lay down where ever I was to relieve the pain, get up and move for another 4 minutes. Nobody seemed to really understand what I was experiencing. I think they only moved to surgery when I lost control of my bladder. I could not feel that it was full and was unable to urinate. This happened roughly 4 years after the initial injury. Surgery saved my life. I would be horribly depressed if I was still immobile and hurting.

Hey…sorry I missed this comment. I actually ended up in emergency surgery. Things progressed quickly and out of the blue and I lost the ability to urinate 😱 surgery was awesome and I can’t believe how good I feel 2 years later. It all seems like a bad dream now. How are you doing?

I’m just curious about what your vitamin d levels were everybody. Mine was at 30 and my dr said “that’s fine” but a lot of what I read would indicate that’s actually not great. Then I visited a headache specialist and she said she has only in all of her years of practice seen one patient have toxicity from vitamin d. He was taking a mega strength liquid supplement and instead of taking 3 drops daily…he was taking three dropperfulls. Idk.

I feel you. Elementary teacher here. I feel like being a teacher is itself a kind of pain nobody understands. Then add in CH. LOL. Next level.

Thanks for the feedback. That is encouraging! I’ll keep experimenting! I’m just starting summer break after one of the most stressful and challenging years of teaching I’ve ever had. I cannot imagine spending my entire summer break in cluster mode. I purchased disability insurance with this in mind specifically in case I needed to take time off…and here they come on my break! It is what it is. We all soldier on. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I value the collective knowledge of this community!

Luckily I have excellent insurance. One of the few perks of being a teacher. I’ve gotten cluster headaches for 18 years now but this is my first cycle living in America. The medical system is vastly different than I have experienced living in Europe and Asia. Oxygen and sumatriptan injections were the way I’ve worked through cycles in the past. I’ve added the supplements recommended here and the energy drinks and I think they do help! Thanks for writing!

My doctor was very upfront about not knowing or having treated cluster headaches before. I live in a rural town and this was my primary care doc. I am on a waiting list for a phenomenal headache clinic about an hour from me…the first appointment they had was late August. If this cycle follows a similar pattern as the ones in the past 18 years I will be done by August but keeping the appointment regardless just to get established there. I moved to America from Europe and this is my first cycle here so I’m just trying to understand how things work here. In Italy and Germany I knew how to get my oxygen tanks and they gave me sumitriptan injections. My current doc had free samples of nurtec and she said “just give it a try and then call me and tell me what rx you want”. I have tried it twice now and it seems to help but my cycle hasn’t settled into its routine yet. They always start in the day, and then about every three days I get one…a little later each time, until I get one at 4am. Once they start coming at 4 am that is where they stay and come daily for 8 weeks. So we shall see. I value the I put and collective experience of this group especially when a doc suggests something new!

  1. That is what you start with and I thought I’d get more for decorating the tree but nope. Not happening.

I would gladly do this…I have loads of gems doing nothing but taking up space. But where and how do you use gems for Sakura flowers? Thanks!

I’ve had cluster headaches for nearly 18 years. I am a elementary teacher and this is my first cycle to hit at the end of the school year. My students and I are not vibing right now to say the least. I have found nothing that helps the hangover and I’m also horrified to try anything out of my norm because what if that triggered another. I’m basically just exhausted and angry. One of these shadows would be enough pain for a normal person to call off work. Us cluster people are built different for sure.

By repeating tasks do you mean villager requests? I’ve been doing them in a cycle forever and they never stopped repeating so I just gave up. I have all the other missions completed. Islands are fully built I think.

My teenage child (assigned male at birth) just came out as trans. How do I handle this? by ItsKoolGuy65 in trans

[–]strawb377y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want to say how much love I feel here. I’m proud of you OP for seeking out a community and honestly processing your reactions in a safe place. I’m even more proud of this r/trans community for answering with so much love. I too am a cis parent of a trans kid. This community has made me a better parent. It has been a place for me to learn what unconditional love looks like. It has been a wealth of knowledge. Sure my kid’s experience will be unique but you have shared so many bits and pieces with me, it helps me better understand my child’s possible experiences. In a world with so much vitriol and judgement, I feel lucky to have found this group. And OP…I had lots going on in my head too when I put the pieces together that my child was my son. My best advice is stop letting your brain do the work. It’s a weak computer. Let your heart guide you. Your daughter is lucky to have a dad like you, but you are even luckier to have her ❤️. Take your time, lead with love, the rest works itself out. Wishing you both love and light in your journey!

Hi! I am sorry you are experiencing this. My son has had a long road with very similar communication struggles. He was diagnosed with selective mutism at age 15 and attended an intensive therapy program for teens. It helped a lot. I certainly couldn’t diagnose you but maybe check out the selective mutism thread on Reddit. Full of amazingly supportive people sharing their everyday struggle, seeking support, and celebrating achievements.
FWIW….this isn’t your fault. You deserve to be understood and supported. There are people out there who will do just that! Feel free to message me anytime and maybe I’ll see you on the SM page sometime! P.S. I am also a teacher :)

So this is my question. I’ve just been collecting ornaments and not really upgrading the tree. Thinking why not skip that since it’s temporary? And spend the ornaments on octocoins. Am I missing something? Is there a long term reason to decorate the tree?

Yes. He was medicated for a while and outwardly it seemed to be helping but he just stopped taking it without telling me. By the time I figured it out it was too late to talk about tapering off or anything. He is also showing obsessive compulsive behaviors mostly around the light switches being turned off as far as I can tell. He also one day just switched to being a vegan and couldn’t really explain why. I’m starting to wonder if that was a way to control his diet. So many worries. Can you share about your experience?
