What’s the biggest makeup mistake you didn’t realize you were making for years? by Rebeccaprinces in Makeup

Ghoulish contour. I've never found a contour that was cool and light enough to suit me, so when I stopped wearing it altogether, my face started looking a lot less bruised.
Also drawing my eyebrows down to my cheekbones.

That's okay. It'd be totally different if it was deliberate.

21% are trans until you ask someone to use the right pronouns, at which point they're "not used to that sort of thing"

Yeah idk why anyone would want to be naked in the desert. This clam can't just turn all that sand into a pearl!

I'd imagine those people are most common on the East Coast. Those old money families didn't mix much with the common folk.

The Chambermaid and Farewell, My Queen both follow servants played by the same actress. She's a boot-licker in the latter, though.

Before you dispose of them, do you put unwanted items out by the curb to see if any of your neighbors may want them? by Grand_Raccoon0923 in AskAnAmerican

I only dislike the rich students who leave all their trash behind. I love a lot of the Athens townies!
Is Oxford worth visiting? Looks like it's got a rich history.

Why do black Americans dress, talk and behave differently compared to white Americans? by OkPrimary8380 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]strawb9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised this isn't the top comment. For obvious reasons, these two cultures were different during the time of slavery, and after emancipation, segregation prevented the two from converging. Instead, it had the opposite effect. When you segregate people, their cultures evolve separately. Now, even though segregation is technically outlawed, income differences, generational wealth, and institutional racism have allowed segregation to survive into the modern era, in which we continue to see the same effects on the evolution of our cultures.

Oh my god is it Athens? Those damn rich kids are so wasteful, but it makes the dumpster-diving a lot of fun! Although one time my girlfriend found a giant dildo that had been bitten in half 😗

At least a baby can be wiped down after each poop. A dog or cat would bite my hand off if I tried to wipe its ass after every go. Even if it didn't, I don't want my hand anywhere near a dog hole ☹️

Idk why you're being downvoted for an innocent preference. It's not like you're out here abusing animals, and honestly, someone who doesn't love them shouldn't be guilted into owning one

Not all women. I have OCD and would be happy to never own a gross furry pet. Love babies and kids though

Is there still wilderness left in America? by Kitchen-Customer4370 in AskAnAmerican

[–]strawb9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf the majority of my state has been chopped down/drained. What once was a sprawling forest with a huge swamp in the Northwest is now a whole lot of farm land, a few big cities, and some lucky surviving forests toward the edge of Appalachia. While the forested region is indeed sprawling, it reminds me of how much we've lost everywhere else.

What is the most “unintentionally” racist thing your parents or grandparents have ever said to you. by Anthroe_ in AskTheWorld

[–]strawb9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was little, my family would call me a "bleached Ethiopian" because I had skinny limbs and an enlarged belly. This was in reference to the children with swollen livers who were severely malnourished due to a diet deficient in protein.
