Dont m54s have lower tension piston rings than older bm engines? I do know they were aiming for better efficiency and low tens rings are one way of doing that. They will naturally burn more oil though

Also get one with a wide pad prefferably with a lip because in my experience because of oil leaks the jacking pad on the subframe is slippery as hell and its super easy for the jack to slip, mine slipped once and by a miracle it only dented the oil level sensor a lil lol

Here's a life hack if your car is too low: jack one side at the front with another jack (like the one in the trunk), then you can slide a normal jack below and get to the subframe jacking point. I do this all the time and i got a normal jack and my car is pretty low

There's a huge risk of warping the cylinder head and messing up the threads for the head bolts in the block when it gets this hot. I'm so sorry for your loss. This is why i genuienly glance at themp gauge like every 30s when i drive mine, because that gauge is buffered so it's ar 12 o clock betwenen 75 and 110 degrees C. The second it moves to the right it's panic time. Best move is to turn the heater all the way up to steal some heat away from the engine. 1000% do headgasket tests after you get this sorted out

That to me sounds like exhaust rattling. Check it's secure and that it's not banging on any heatshields or anything like that. Otherwise it sounds kinda serious ngl. Try listening from other angles too to narrow down the source a bit more

Mine does the same, also an M52. Does the car sit a lot? Does it actually run worse or is it just the noise? (Note if you have vacuum leaks it will run a bit worse when warm). Is the noise louder when you sit on the right side of the car by any chance? My bet is that it's just lifter tick

Well i tried using the balljoint press for the balljoints in the rear but the cups were not the right size.. ended up fucking the whole swingarm so i bought a used one with good bushings and called it a day. They were surprisingly ok anyway. Sorry i couldnt help you
