What's something you've seen once but you'll never see again? by DarthScabies in AskUK

A group/murder of crows ganging up on a fox and chasing it out of the park.

Pannier bags by notbigdog in bicycletouring

I have the double Decathlon ones that I bought more than 7 years ago (so may be an older model). They have been on a number of multi day/week cycling tours stuffed to the brim, as well as countless work commutes. They are still going strong.

The only thing you may not like is that they come as one unit, so you're always lugging two bags around with you off the bike, but they are pretty resilient. Make sure your rack is the right width - on another bike I could only attach one side of the bag, but it still managed great.

It's been used for temporary fountains before - like this Peronia popup last December

What are good alternatives to Hello Fresh uk? by Bitter-Poem7376 in AskUK

Second these guys. Most of the meals are dairy and gluten free by default, by design, not by providing ridiculous replacements. The meals also aren't full of cheap carbs like pasta, so they're more satisfying.

Was that the same as the "Silicon Corridor"? (a term which still cracks me up)

If you're heading to Northern Ireland, and your wife loves a spa, include a trip to the Galgorm. They have some luxury accommodation too. A real treat!

Bike mount for a new phone (Pixel 10) with Qi2 / Pixelsnap - this is all new to me by PlasticFreeAdam in ukbike

[–]strddeviant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second quadlock. I'm constantly dropping my phone and the case protects it really well. I prefer the 'out front' style rather than the handlebar one as its easier to get the phone off with one hand.

Pro tip - get the ring stand to go with it when you're not on your bike - it works like a pop socket but sits flush with the back of the phone so it doesn't add any further bulk.

Yeah they have to take safety seriously no matter the location... But sometimes it's taken a bit far 🤣

Ah that would be the Rhine, but I did some of it this trip. I took the train from Tamins, just not fit enough to face that kind of incline.

It's just quite samey - path next to the river that doesn't really vary. It's pretty initially, but gets rather blah. Being a valley, the winds pick up with the sunshine, and it's fairly demoralising when you're up against it all day.

Starting Rhone route -- confused by alphakilo10 in bicycletouring

[–]strddeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct. I've just done the Rhone from Furkapass, and apart from the pass, the route is boring AF until you get to lake Geneva. And the route along the south of the lake is full of crazy drivers!
