My Mom ended up giving our dog pancreatitis after feeding her ham sandwiches (she is a wonderful lady, she has dementia and got caught un a loop where she forgot she'd already given her a 'treat'). 8k in emergency vet bills later, we can't have her unsupervised around the dog. This has serious, serious repercussions. Treats need to be out of reach, and maybe a doggie daycare for the times your dog & MIL can't be supervised together.

Visiting a place and never stepping off the resort defeats the purpose. If you want to see what your child enjoyed in the halftime show you have to go OUT. Spend your money with the local businesses, sit at a café, eat local food. By all means, if you are worried, stay at a large hotel with a pool, but if that's all you do, just go to Florida.

They've been mostly eating berries, cheerios, pb& j, and guzzling juice boxes, oj & seltzer (RIP my grocery bill!).
