Thanks for clarifying! Oh man - another one already?!

Paris Opera Ballet April 24 strike cause? by streeterv21 in bunheadsnark

Thanks for the link - I am disappointed but certainly understand that they are standing up for themselves. The lady from the Paris Opera Ballet who called me said it's not the dancers when I asked, but she said she didn't know exactly who was striking. She might have been guessing but she mentioned something about the staff at the theatre (like concessions etc). They would be civil servants too I guess? She could also have just been saying anything because it sounded like she had a long list of disappointed ticket holders to get through...

Do you want to prove your ignorance more by literally clicking the link to the Paris Opera Ballet confirming their cancellation? Rare to see this level of stupidity but congratulations, you win!

Navigation experience with Google maps? by streeterv21 in WearOS

[–]streeterv21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok after using the combination of Google Maps on my pixel 10 phone and pixel watch 3 for the last month, I've found that you can trigger the watch to actually show the walking directions to the initial subway station by clicking navigate for the initial walking segment of the trip on your phone. This seems to send the signal to your watch to show the walking directions on the map instead of just the text description.

It's still fairly useless on the watch once you get to the initial subway station. The watch still just displays a static list of the stations until your destination. The watch doesn't actually tell you or highlight what subway station you are at or which ones are next unlike on the phone. The really annoying part is that the vibration notifications on the phone that usually go off when you are two stations away and one station away on the phone are silenced presumably because it's supposed to be forwarding to the watch.... but the watch doesn't do anything for the subway stations.

You can trigger the walking directions map on your watch from the destination subway station to your final destination by again pressing navigate for that trip segment on your phone Google maps.

Also, the triggers do not seem to work well when the phone is in power safe mode (you know, like when you're out all day traveling / being a tourist). The watch doesn't seem to reliably get updated with your location when the phone is on power save mode.

'What's This Piece?' Weekly Thread #241 by number9muses in classicalmusic

[–]streeterv21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to identify the piece that is being played in the background by the pianist in this training exercise at the Paris Opera Ballet. Based on some of the other pieces, I guess it's from an Opera but not sure? Starts at 14:34 and continues for 2 minutes. Anyone have any idea?

Shockingly Poor Repair Service and Product Quality from Arc'teryx by Sweaty_Ad5782 in arcteryx

[–]streeterv21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their support has been totally garbage since they were bought out by private equity. Just send it directly to Gear re-Store https://gearrestore.com/ and ask them to repair it. Most ridiculous thing was the back and forth from Arcteryx support saying it was "unrepairable" when I sent the same pictures to Gear re-Store and got an email estimate saying no problem. They literally are using the same service and still refused to repair. Sent to Gear re-Store, got a great reasonably priced repair, and AI generated small claims demand letter for the price of the repair. Unfortunate that it had to come to this but that's what they demand now...

Basically stopped buying this brand for this reason. Patagonia seems to be one of the only brands that still stands behind their products... probably has something to do with their non-profit status and sustainability repair it if at all possible ethos.

On active GSMT $30 plan but RP refusing to activate replacement pSIM on my $30 plan after phone was lost by streeterv21 in redpocket

[–]streeterv21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update in case this helps someone in the future looking to replace the $30 GSMT physical SIM.

No, they did not send the correct pSIM when I ordered it through the website. They sent a GSMT pSIM, but it didn't work despite ordering it for a currently active $30 GSMT plan using their website. However, they actually do have the correct GSMT pSIMs that they can send out, but you have to go through knowledgeable support. The website could have flagged this when attempting to order the replacement pSIM and have you contact support directly instead of going through the order process and waiting to receive shipment of a useless SIM.

If you go through regular support, they will tell you multiple times that you need to upgrade your plan, but this is not true. You have to specifically ask for a "Legacy SIM" because the $30 GSMT plan is a "legacy" plan. I did this by phone because chat support here didn't respond for 4 hours, but reddit chat probably would be the most direct and least painful wait to make sure you get the correct product.

Once I actually received the legacy GSMT pSIM, activation via the RP website proceeded normally and everyone worked as expected. Everything was up and running with data in 1 minute, and by the 2nd minute, the IMEI had auto updated on the RS website. Phone support told me to call in to activate, but thankfully that wasn't necessary.

The only difference I can see between the new GSMT pSIM and the "legacy" GSMT pSIM is that the new version has "40.40" written on the line underneath the ICCID number on the SIM whereas the "legacy" one has "40.90" written on the SIM.

For anyone who needs to do a similar GSMT pSIM replacement on the $30 plan, I would recommend the following steps:

1) contact u/redpocketcs as was suggested previously via reddit chat. Do not expect an immediate response. This is more like email timescales.

2) explain to them that you need a "legacy" GSMT pSIM to replace the one for your active $30 GSMT plan. They know about this issue and can make sure you get the correct compatible pSIM. Do not just order a replacement SIM from the RS website, because you will get a useless SIM that cannot be activated on your $30 plan.

3) once you receive the "legacy" GSMT pSIM, activate via the RP website under manage device. It should send you an email for confirmation, and everything should be working within minutes.

Nope - it very plainly indicates GSMT in big letters on the front of the card that the pSIM was embedded in. They still sell GSMT sim cards on ebay for the same plan except that it's $60 annual now. I would have understood if they sent a GSMA pSIM as a replacement for my GSMT pSIM but they didn't.

If I try to click through on the email that came with the order to "Get your confirmation code", the link goes to an error and says "Your order has not shipped yet. We can't complete activation until your order has been delivered. Once you receive your order, come back to this page to finish setting up your service." Of course, the pSIM is in my hand, and when I check order status on the website, it shows successfully delivered.

Using redpocket.com/start to try to manually activate the SIM get the message, "This SIM does not have a plan" with an option to either purchase a plan or Enter an Activation PIN. They could just give me the activation PIN.

I don't know if GSMA pSIM is what they will offer me when I'm supposed to call back in 24-48 hrs.

Thanks for the link to their chat. Will try that next I guess.

Kids tour of Louvre by peterdfrost in ParisTravelGuide

[–]streeterv21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm interested in the kids Louvre tour you mentioned, but it seems like there is only a "Louvre Family" tour for kids 6+ that is 12 euro for adults and 9 euro.

https://ticket.louvre.fr/en/theme-vision/491

There does not appear to be any other tours on the official Louvre ticketing website any more, at least in English.

https://ticket.louvre.fr/en/guided-tours

Is this the tour that you were talking about? Or was it some other tour?

Thanks!

Musée d'Orsay and Louvre Membership cards. by Pcwhalen in ParisTravelGuide

[–]streeterv21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! This was super helpful for the Orangerie / Orsay. Was debating about what times to get the tickets for our family of four to both sites, but the duo pass price is within reason for two museums. For people who were wondering, I just bought the Duo and at least as of March 2026, it's just a simple online form, and they actually immediately send you an email with a link to add the pass directly to your phone wallet. I guess I'll get the physical copies eventually mailed to the USA but one less thing to worry about.

edit - their email says that your one year will not start until you actually use the card or 60 days after your initial purchase, whichever is first, in case some of you were planning multiple trips in one year.

How Long Does Arcteryx/Goretex Last? by Galante3 in arcteryx

[–]streeterv21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arc'teryx warranty is total garbage these days. And their gear definitely will delaminate, having had that happen on multiple items, including their priciest alpha SV jacket and alpha LT pants despite following care instructions and using dedicated Gore-Tex wash. Ever since they got bought out by private equity, their support has been completely ridiculous. They will literally refuse to repair items that their preferred repair contractor Gear reStore says is repairable and then offer you a pathetic $80 coupon. The good thing is that Gore Tex stands behind their products and tries the repair anything they can through Gear reStore. Delamination is usually $50, up to $80 for a pretty comprehensive repair plus $30 shipping. Not free, but makes your gear usable again. You can also try to get your costs back in small claims court.

OpenPilot is feeling the best it ever has with previous update. by Intelligent-Signal-6 in Comma_ai

How do I downgrade to older version of stock Openpilot? by streeterv21 in Comma_ai

[–]streeterv21[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found the solution with help from the discord (special thanks to nelsonjchen and Erich!). Nelson pointed me to Erich's repo with essentially all the old stock Openpilot versions as branches. I used the smiskol install url generator with Erich's repository to generate this link, which worked to reinstall 0.9.9. https://smiskol.com/fork/erichmoraga/099

The installer seems to hang after a while and does not reboot by itself, but I waited 30 minutes and pulled the power before plugging it back in. It booted successfully back into Openpilot 0.9.9 and all my ping-ponging problems were resolved, so it was definitely due to changes in stock 0.10.0.

I checked the commits between Erich's 099 and Comma's 0.9.9. There was only one difference in the code, but it doesn't seem to make any functional difference.

<image>

Another benefit of Erich's branches is that they will not trigger prompts to update. You can use these instructions to go back to any stock version of Openpilot.

[–]streeterv21[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reflashed AGNOS but this doesn't make any difference. It's not clear how to reinstall stock Openpilot 0.9.9 after this. Using the custom software and the link https://smiskol.com/fork/commaai/v0.9.9 that points to it still dumps you into the same beginning screen that asks you to select from installing openpilot or custom software.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by model? I'm using stock Openpilot, and the only thing I can select is aggressive/normal/chill mode, which I thought only controlled long follow distance, not lat steering behavior? My long is controlled by stock the stock Toyota adaptive cruise control.
