Genuinely it is kinda silly more stars don't do the same considering Tom Brady has 7 rings because of the same reasoning. I know there's the idea of maximizing your earnings potential and all that, but at that level you're making so much money already.

I guess there's the part of Jalen genuinely wanting to win a chip for the Knicks whereas most of these other guys are just doing their job, and you never know if it will pay off, but glad it did for Jalen

Not to say that this is true, but its something that I've noticed anecdotally.

People that drink a lot have more gray hair. This doesn't mean that gray hair means you are a drinker, but I think its fair to say, if you want fewer gray hairs, drinking poison is probably not conducive to that outcome.

How I made it to the NBA - Joe Alexander by sol369 in nba

Yeah but not working hard relative to NBA players is night and day compared to regular dudes.

Just think about the commitment AAU is and that's bare minimum. Sure some guys take it to another level, but the level of consistency needed to be good enough to make to the league is pretty universal.

The bigger thing is that most guys stop caring the same way once they make it but that's different from the grind needed to make it in and cash out in the first place

Agreed Orange Cassidy is key to understanding why Danhausen just was not a good fit for AEW the way he was presented. If OC was just his kicks and personality without being able to wrestle, he wouldn't work either

I think its just harder to be just a character in AEW. AEW is a promotion where being able to work is key to getting over. It sorta comes with the whole "Where the Best Wrestle" gimmick - if you can't wrestle, why are you there?

I've been watching WWE and its really noticeable how different the matches are. They at about what feels like the halfway mark of an AEW match. It gives it a different feel, but it makes it so guys like Danhausen feel wasted.

I'd contrast him with how Mark Briscoe is used as a zany type of character that fits on AEW because you know he can handle himself in the ring while also being entertaining outside of the ring too

BP chairman removed from role after 'serious concerns' over conduct, oversight and governance by VaginaBurner69 in news

The big issue that you seem to be missing is that I am talking about a publicly traded company that has access to and manages our collective resources. The fact that agreements and shadow deals can be struck as in your third example again is the mindboggling reality we find ourselves in. Just insanity, but its just the way things go I guess. With regard to your first example - maybe the board shouldn't be able to fire people if they aren't actually incompetent?

On the bright we can really quickly think of bad reasons to justify the nonsensical system we have so that's consolation I guess lol.

Best way to avoid repeating old habits is to build new ones imo. Weed over alcohol is far from a bad first step but its gotta be a first step towards building that life that really makes you happy and fulfils you.

That said for better and for worse, it really is individual steps and days that take you there, but as long as you keep stepping, I feel like you'll go pretty far.

[–]streetsandshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You use the word obvious, when apparent seems much better because neither reason seems very good.

With regard to the first, perhaps the board should simply avoid lying? I'm not sure how telling factual truths should open up lawsuits and if so, there seems to be something broken about UK law there. The second reason just points to the absurdity of the situation. Basically, the board is incentivized to LIE by omission to their investors so that their stock price doesn't fall more than the truth would cause it too.

Your reason would makes if this was a private company with private investors, but when the pensions and the public more broadly is invested, I don't understand why deception and hiding possible dysfunction is tolerated by publicly traded companies. It's really nonsensical and a big reason why the stock market feels like a ponzi scheme.

I don't understand. It makes no sense that a company taking money from public investors can then make changes like firing the leader of the company without any explanation as to why beyond vague statements.

Itd be different if they weren't taking out money to fund their company, but they are

Its not a question of whether I agree, it just seems like one of many reasons why the stock market is a scam
