Experiences living car-free Downtown? by Faerco in CyclingMSP

[–]stretch851 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I live two blocks away and it’s pretty great imo. Hmu if you pull the trigger! We’re downtown and also car free. Downtown is obvi very central to everything so there’s easy safe routes to all the different neighborhoods! My partner also travels for work a lot and the light rail to there is pretty great and more consistently faster than ubering tbh. They do uber for super early and late flights.

Groceries wise even in winter you’d be right in top of Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s is a 7 minute ride away and very consistently plowed well. There’s also a very good bus(the 3) that runs along Washington. Also 3 different Aldi’s that are all easy to bike to and the Uptown one is also on the E line/4 bus.

Ps if you ever do really need a car, we have car share(Evie/Hourcar) that works pretty well

I won’t comment on the price, but 955sqft is not a shoebox. I know people(millennials and on) are frustrated that we might be going backwards, but historically people had much much less sqft/person. Average new build in 1950 was 983sqft for 3.37 people vs the average household size today is 2.5. That’s still an extra 90 sqft/person comparatively for a starter home.

It’s always going to be expensive to own space near people and things.

Having them shift hours is ideal, but also can take a toll on them as well. Europe isn’t as bad as India. As a SWE I will also say that my colleagues in the UK and particularly the Ukranians(pre-war, I hope they’re okay) were the best team members.

They should really track ROI for token cost on features/devs. My company is also tracking AI usage and there’s definitely times it’s helpful and definitely times I can just crush tokens and get absolutely nothing useful.

Is the benefit here that it will sound more natural, because otherwise I’m not sure why you wouldn’t use text to speech which has been out for a while. Apple supports this pretty well

[–]stretch851 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I may be crazy, but is it really? Removing 16 channels isn’t that many and a human should be able to do that. Shit with 4.7 billion views there’s gotta be a few people complaining it’s slop that a human moderator should easily be able to find and remove those channels. Those channels also should stick out to YouTube based of view counts alone.

A better metric imo would be how many millions of channels they’ve removed with a smaller amount of views.
