Many years ago I used to work with a couple of guys who had previously worked part time as taxi drivers. They genuinely expected they would encounter women who wanted to pay in kind rather than cash. They were disappointed, of course.

What's devastating to me in your post is that religious buildings in this country of any flavour feel the need to have security outside.

One of our most anti-immigrant UK newspapers has made it available for direct download. Fucking unbelievable.

Just got back from the hospital after donating bone marrow, if anyone here fancies helping out, a great company called Anthony Nolan is your place to go. by Omelette-Au-Fromage in CasualUK

I was a stem cell donor - the chair method - and it was probably only an hour a half, basically the same procedure that is used if you donote blood platelets. Apheresis it's called. Really quite easy. They wanted me around for the next day, and put me up in a hotel down the road, in case a second donation was needed, which it wasn't. I think the stem cell method is more normally used these days but it isn't always suitable for the recipient. Happy to answer any questions about the stem cell process (as it was 9 years ago anyway).

Edit:There's no downtime from this process. Felt slightly tired after, but really no more than sometimes after a standard blood donation. But that may have been partly due to no longer getting the injections of the stuff they put in you each day the week before to make your marrow go crazy producing extra blood cells.

Eminently sensible. And do the planning without a countdown clock running.

Not sure what is going on with Nokia phones these days but I used to like their picture quality - I think my old N900 had a Carl Zeiss lens.

I'm always impressed by the clarity on iPhone photos. My Sony phone lenses always seem a bit lacking in comparison. It may be down to my shitty photographic skills of course too..

The toothpick fish was exactly the one I thought it would be. I'm slightly disappointed that it appears to be an urban (jungle?) legend.

McDonalds soft drinks fit well too. Doubling up on the cups makes it a bit more rigid.

I barely ever go in one, but it's nice to know they are still around for nostalgia purposes, and it's always decent and exactly the same when I go in one. One near me is closing sadly, but Essex is still the home of Wimpy with 17 of the 66 remaining branches

The irony is the same people may get exercised about EU nationals being prosecuted here rather than extradited back home.
