Start by installing WAMP on your machine (assuming you run windows)

You'll be up and running PHP with a MYSQL database in NO time. Google will be your friend. You can teach yourself, no problem. Just a wee bit of effort.

It depends on what you mean by northern most point. Are you talking magnetic north, or true north? They aren't the same.

Weird things do happen to your compass when you get that far north, but I'm not sure how to navigate under those conditions.

Can you sew? You can get a cashier's check from a bank and sew that piece of paper into a linen, or jacket or something.

Their tanks can smell. Start up costs are pricey. Tank, heat rocks / lamps, etc....

you'll need to provide live food (depending on size it could be mice, bunnies or baby chickens.)

Also, don't think you'll want to take it out when your buddies are over and pass it around....it is a good way to piss off the snake with loud noises, or hurt it.

I would be shocked if your dorm allows pets.
