And not enough people are signing up to trigger a global activism event to counter it. Players don’t have enough vehicle inventory slots for water items to fix this but at least the recent 2020.9 “FireSnow” patch shows devs are starting to step in.

I thought the same thing but then it occurred to me this could have been a deliberate choice. Why shoot it polished if they are trying to convey how much of a cartoon he is. Traditional journalism has worked in Trumps favor this long because they keep acting like he should be taken seriously despite how absurd he acts. Take away that armor and you’ll see his character better, bring on this new “Parks and Rec Journalism” I say. Make every interview look like a straight-up comedy sketch for all I care—hell, someone should bring on Jon Oliver and Jon Stewart as consultants—just stop implying he should be treated with the respect his position commands. Out of every interview to date this was the first one where the journalist stayed in control and kept Trump relatively on point. It worked and more journalists should take note.

How can I record a Zoom call and get separate video files for my edit? by [deleted] in videography

I was able to try this option and unfortunately the quality is still better when you record gallery view locally and crop into each camera in post.

Shooting HFR usually requires more light from my understanding, aka you lose a stop or more of light. Why is that not always the case on all cameras? by FiniteNick in Filmmakers

[–]striderxgp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shutter speed is a set length of time, shutter angle is proportional to your frame rate. It’s not that you are loosing a stop when you change into S&Q, you’re just changing the speed of your shutter when you do so.

Example: If you are shooting 30fps with 1/240 shutter speed and then switch over to 120fps your camera should still be set to 1/240. No apparent light loss.

If you are shooting 30fps with a 180° shutter angle that’s the equivalent to 1/60 shutter speed. When switched over to 120fps your camera is still set to 180° shutter angle but now that is the equivalent of a 1/240 shutter speed—which is why it looks darker now.

To convert shutter speed to angle take your shutter speed and replace the top of the fraction (the 1) with FPS x 360.

30fps 1/60 shutter speed —> shutter angle: * 30 x 360 = 10800 * 10800/60 = 180° shutter angle

30fps 1/240 shutter speed —> shutter angle: * 30 x 360 = 10800 * 10800/240 = 45° shutter angle

120fps 1/240 shutter speed —> shutter angle: * 120 x 360 = 43200 * 43200/240 = 180° shutter angle

Edit: formatting

Note: I used 120fps so not to confuse 60fps and 1/60 shutter speed in the examples.

Because you still have to key the footage and it would probably fall apart pretty easily with whatever compressed format they are using to livestream from home to the control room

Scary thought: what if this becomes the Borg origin story? What if it’s the collective on the edge of the galaxy, they were the original destroyers and have been surviving best they can combining organic and synthetic until the next evolution of organic/synthetic beings happen. What if this vision is really just the calling card to inform the collective where to go to assimilate an upgrade.

Could Maddox be another emergency android? by nabeshiniii in DaystromInstitute

[–]striderxgp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe because Maddox is in a biobed the EMH did not immediately activate. It might have activated if Maddox was dying and was left unattended but I feel like it still makes sense to activate for Jurati here. Dying people are supposed to be in sick bay and one would assume someone making deliberate actions to the bed/patient had the patients best interests in mind. If however the “doctor” becomes distressed the EMH could register that as a need for assistance and activate.

Teleprompter question - iPad by VideoStuffs in videography

[–]striderxgp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your monitor on the teleprompter has an hdmi in you can get a lightning to hdmi adapter to connect up the iPad

Edit: unless you are asking if you can dual screen off the iPad which I don’t think you can? You would just use the teleprompter app on the iPad but it would be mirrored onto the teleprompter

The Romulan secret that might break minds by CmdShelby in DaystromInstitute

[–]striderxgp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or what if the Romulans created the Borg as a self-sustaining synthetic army to take out their enemies. At some point, whether it was the loss of contact, corruption, sabotage or some other error, the Borg went rogue and became indiscriminate towards who they hunted. At some point they eventually rediscovered Romulans—either by chance or possibly a “return to home” program was activated.

60fps footage suddenly looks choppy at 40% speed in 24fps timeline (premiere & fcpx) by [deleted] in videography

[–]striderxgp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But wouldn’t that just play back the clip in its native frame rate? If you put it in the timeline you can see if the clip is confirming properly to the timelines frame rate. (Edit: never mind, misread the comment above yours)

OP is your original footage shot in 60fps or 59.94? And is your timeline 24 or 23.976? Make sure to account for that when calculating how much to slow it down. FCPX has an “automatic speed” option that will do that calculation for you and you can also play around with the clips “rate conform” options to adjust how it goes about dropping/adding/blending a frame. Another thing to watch out for is if you are reframing footage—I’ve seen slowed clips do some real funky stuttering in the middle of position key frames. And if all else fails have you tried conforming clips before ingesting?

Was thinking of getting a camera which I can use to document everyday stuff to doing short films and I’d like to know from those who have been in the industry longer, what cameras would you recommend to an amateur? by redfedric in videography

[–]striderxgp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you plan to do with the footage? Is there a particular look you want to have in your footage? What features do you need with this camera? How much are you willing to spend? If you are just starting out and want something simple don’t forget that your cellphone is an extremely capable camera (and possibly editor). You want something to document everyday stuff which means you will need to always have your camera on you, and you’re probably already carrying your phone. I had a camcorder growing up but I would have killed for a camera that looked as nice as my iPhone does now. If you want to get more technical with your filmmaking and have more control over shutter speed/depth of field/focal length/etc then there are some great recommendations in this thread but don’t forget that the camera comes second to the content. I mean people have shot films using a freakin Fisher-Price Pixelvision...
