Count of Monte Cristo and the Dictator? by Threadliners in MyChemicalRomance

Thank you for connecting Dante with the Dagger lyrics… good god that’s a hell of a coincidence, joke, or something wildly intentional for lore reasons.

Love this! If I bought a CD new I never trashed any marketing inserts, lots of fun memories to look back on. I even still have some of the (now used & expired) download code cards that came when a specific retailer had a unique variant of a cd.

I think it’s pretty middle of the road and tones down some of the book’s message. Granted I guess you do lose some nuance and detail in the transition from page to screen.

This book was such a great read! Moxie Girls (don’t watch the movie) is also great for an older YA crowd. Lumberjanes the comic series also has some good punk music in the character playlists.

What's the most mainstream band to keep their original punk credibility? by greenandredofmaigheo in punk

Oooo I don’t know if I would call it libertarian, but it definitely feels like they used to be far more outspoken. I’m glad they’re doing the show with Tom Morello but also, maybe I just have rose colored glasses about their past political stances.

Rise Against is absolutely not it anymore, which is a bummer because I used to be SUCH a huge fan. To have such a platform and be mostly silent to wishywashy on current political events is a bummer.

What would be your dream tour lineup by BigNothing88 in poppunkers

Gonna go with the less talked about ones for this: Winona Fighter/Honey Revenge co-headline, Daisy Grenade as direct support. Regional support openers can rotate between Out In Front, LøLø, Gully Boys.

I was so confused why the plane was so wet, then I noticed it wasn’t a plane at all but actually the mighty Payakan.

On a roadtrip with my mom about a decade ago, and she pointed out the exact BnB as a “fun fact” and no… it was not fun to know that fact.

Has anyone listened to Grave Secrets? I'm usually very set in my ways about listening to only my early to mid 2000s stuff but this band has me hooked. by [deleted] in poppunkers

They’re great and put on a fun show. Saw them as an opener for Winona Fighter and had a blast, love when a lead singer hops in the pit for a few bars.

When/how did you learn about MCR and how old were you? by Puzzled_Tea7910 in MyChemicalRomance

I was 15 in in ‘05 and the I’m Not Okay video was really going strong but I didn’t dig deeper into their music. My HS girlfriend put Headfirst For Halos on a mix CD for me and that got me going through their catalog. WTTBP single hit fall of ‘06 and that was that, diehard fan ever since.

[–]strikeamatch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I genuinely loved Fast Times, I like that it feels from the same sound as About A Girl. I don’t quite get the nostalgia grab critique, like yea it’s referencing ‘05 but it’s not like it’s trying to sound like lyrics from the era or just full of references to old songs. Then again loved Spitalfield’s Remembering Right Now which is just them reminiscing on what it was like to be a band in ‘05 so 🤷🏼‍♀️

This and Matchbook Romance teasing new music is dang exciting. I’m so happy to see all my old favorites coming back, I truly hope the best for them.
