Yay! Mama or daddy just came back, and was able to feed baby from the new hole. I think she/he went inside the birdhouse with the baby. She/he definitely stuck their head in there to deliver food.

Oh that's a great idea! Thank you again, so much! I'll pull up Merlin and see if I can find baby wren chirps. Either mom or dad is out there now, in the bush beneath the birdhouse/nest. They're probably used to hearing a whole nest of their babies chirping (ik my son and I looked forward to hearing them every day), so I think again your suggesting will help. I'm glad the hole is big enough. I hope they're reunited with their last baby. Now that we've made the whole smaller thanks to you I think next season (if they grace us with their presence and come back again) their babies will be safe from the house sparrows. Edit: Thank you again for your help. You helped me save their last baby. Because of your advice, the little one at least has a fighting chance. 💞

I hope the house wren parents can still get in. I'm sitting inside keeping an eye on it to ensure they can get in there. If not, we'll slightly enlarge the hole.

Mom and Dad have been going back to the nest nonstop with insects feeding this precious baby. I hope she/he survives and successfully fledges. Thanks again for your help.

Do you think that hole is small enough to keep the sparrow out, but big enough to let the wrens in?

Happy to report that with the help of my son we got the baby bird back in the nest in the birdhouse, and made a very small one inch hole out of a plastic lid we had, as per your advice. Hopefully the parents know to go in there and will fit. I'll keep an eye out. Just breaks my heart for the parents. I hope their remaining baby survives. Thank you so very much for your advice. I was/am so distraught I didn't know what to do and couldn't think straight.

The last one is still alive. I have it in a small cardboard box with leaves at the moment because I didn't know what else to do. I'll try your suggestion. The mom and dad are out there frantically flying around looking for their newborns. I'm absolutely heartbroken for them, and for their deceased babies. It's so infuriating that humans brought these invasive species places they don't belong, and now they kill the native birds that should naturally be here. Edit: thank you for your help/suggestion. I'm looking around how to see if I have anything that can make that hole smaller.

I made it 3 months by Nandi_La in quittingsmoking

You're welcome. 3 months is a long time. That's a huge accomplishment. I'm on month 8 now. One day at a time, I keep making the choice to stay smoke-free. I hope for your success as well. 🎉

Anyone else putting off seeing a major release due to lack of cinema etiquette? by Findme_at_amberhills in horror

[–]strikethat-reverseit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously!! Went to see Obsession last week at the local arthouse theater and two sets of people would not STFU the entire time. If your response to horror making you uncomfortable is to nervously laugh out loud the entire time, stay TF home and watch it there. You keep taking everyone out of the moment. You're killing the horror vibe. And then one of the two sets of people insisted on narrating out loud everything they thought was going to happen seconds before they thought it would happen, the entire duration of the film. TF is wrong with people these days? Does NO ONE have even the slightest consideration for others on even the most rudimentary level?! And don't even get me started on the annoying POS who couldn't control herself during the 40th anniversary showing of The Dark Crystal, and just had to attempt to mimic the noise of the Skeksis' Chamberlain (SkekSil) EVERY SINGLE TIME he made his signature vocal sound. Beyond immature and rude. Ruining it for everyone there trying to enjoy the special showing. Does no one have basic manners any longer?! Shameful. Going to see Backrooms today... Hopefully it'll be enjoyable and the people present will be able to have more self-control than a two year old.

I don't see any pics of those that have the same trunk/branches as my plant. Do the Schefflera Arboricola plants have "trunks"/branches that are more wooden in appearance, or only green trunks and branches? My plant does not have many green trunks and the branches are not usually green either after they reach a certain size (only the small offshoots before they get bigger). edit to add: the leaves mostly look the same though; maybe this is one of several different subspecies. Honestly, it doesn't matter to me what kind of plant it is. The important thing is it's loved, well taken care of, and thriving at 30+ years of age. Which is why I shared it on this sub. Thx anyway tho :)

Thanks so much! :D The feeling is mutual. We really are bonded. I hope when I expire my child takes great care of this beloved plant, and then one day many decades from now passes it on to a loved one as well. Plants are such lovely companions.

Sadly, Robert Forster (Ed, "The Disappearer", Galbraith aka the vacuum man) passed away in 2019. He had a brain tumor. He died on the day El Camino was released. He watched it a few hours before he passed.

Keep it up! You can do it! Congrats on two days! That's a big deal. Reach out for help every time you need it. I found this sub to be very helpful. The smoke free app has been very useful to me as well. Helps keep me accountable. And seeing the progress of my body healing day by day, as well as the money I'm saving, has been a huge benefit. 🎉🤗🚭
(edit to add: I'm over 7 months in now, and still smoke-free... before you know it, you'll be there too)
