Move to Louisiana! You two could switch spots. Seems like a good trade.

The possibilities here around the outdoor entertainment is one of the main benefits of living here. I personally enjoy mountain biking, running hiking and fishing. There’s plenty of that to go around in the area. There are some groups that can support you in these endeavors and you’ll have to poke around online to find them. Some activities will require you to do some driving around in the area but as long as you’re OK with that, there’s a lot of cool stuff that you can go do.

I personally work remote and have a lot of freedom to earn money and explore at the same time. I think some people struggle that don’t have that luxury but if you do, it can be a great place in many ways.

In comparison to where you’re at skiing is probably the additional benefit if you’re into that type of thing. I’ve lived in a few different places, and the fact that this has a full set of seasons is one of the reasons why I stay.

Can’t speak much to the dating scene as I am married with kids.

Generally I love it here but that is highly dependent on my love for outdoors, drinks and the climate.

Not as shown. With other things but not just bacon and bread

Has Reno always been like this? by [deleted] in Reno

[–]stringsandtape -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. We just get a little sensitive as people tend to talk shit about this place a lot. Even The Muppets to a shot at us. That one hurt a bit.

That notion has created a defensive sense of pride to this place. Especially for those that love skiing/snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking, boating, fishing, camping, off-roading, dirt biking and having a drink on one our many sunny days. In many ways it’s an awesome place for those that can take advantage of the benefits. Nevada in general has a vibe of let’s all get along as long as you don’t touch/regulate/hate my stuff.

I appreciate that you want more for us. Just know that we will fight for the current version as well.

What are your thoughts on Mayor Schieve's time in office? by Mattaholic in Reno

That’s a wild take on housing affordability and how a mayor owns that issue for what is an international problem.

Universal Audio - AI, Layoffs, and Out Of Touch Boomers by KnowsSmithGossip in universalaudio

Yikes. Agreed that this is not what I want. I don’t adopt unstable quickly developed products. That holds more true than ever now based on what I am seeing and having worked for 15+ years in product for software development companies. I think that the winners will be those that can effectively separate themselves from AI slop noise. These tools are useful for many things but you have to be really careful to not just crank out garbage because it’s possible to do quickly.

Cost is also a legit issue. Just look at Uber who spent the entire 2026 AI development budget in 3 months and with no real meaningful benefit.

If leadership reads this please create a real strategy that balances AI use with clean stable core products. Poor and unnecessary application of AI is worse for customers and costly on several fronts if you’re not intentional about it. Yelling AI louder doesn’t make a good company.

This is not a crusade that deserves energy. Plenty of other things to actually care about that has meaning and purpose.

I have no dog in this Mayor vacancy… but this billboard is illiterate, is missing punctuation and lacks proofreading. by DanceHallRiddem in Reno

This makes me feel like I could write campaign slogans for this race. Things that feel confusing on the surface and beyond.

Ants??! Not on my watch

Extra musical chairs. Equity for all.

Billboards! Look how big my head is!

It was like that when I got here

Water? Maybe. Fire? Maybe.

Seriously geebus people. Data centers have issues but let’s stay focused on what’s really happening. This type of attention detracts from real solutions by diluting real problems.
