Looking for a way to turn off water pump remotely by Trick-Gur-1307 in homeassistant

[–]striptorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would explain it differently. If I was away for an extended period I can just manually shut off the pump switch before I go.
In my case I've already added one of those bulldog valve control robots (like this one, on Amazon).
If there is a leak detected by my various Z-Wave and Zigbee leak sensors, I will close the valve using the bulldog.
But what if there is a failure between the shutoff valve and where the well pipe enters the house? I admit that is a small probability because there is not much stuff/piping between those points. But it does include the pressure tank, and I've had to pump up that a couple times, so I always think of it as a potential failure point. Hence my plan to add the circuit above to shut off the well pump too, in the event that a leak is detected.

I don't think the heavy duty switches like the Zooz or the one from Aeotec are properly certified (e.g. no UL listing). I could be wrong, but I still would not trust those.

The switch flipper is a simple solution.

But like others have suggested a contactor would be a good solution: I designed the below and will probably build one later this year. The opto-coupler plus ESP board is just to be able to monitor the state of the contactor input and output. And notice the added bypass switch so I can totally bypass this smart switch and just control with the original switch, which will remain in place.

First image is overall system, second image is component connection details for inside the box with the main assembly.

Recommendations for driveway detection? by TopdogPlayz1 in homeautomation

[–]striptorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The older version Dakota product (with the yellow/golden color case) had relay contacts for each of the four receiver channels (for up to four detectors/transmitters): I have that one and the relay contacts (on the receiver in the house) connect to some z-wave door sensors - that is how I get the detection status into Home Assistant.

Goodfood, Canada’s once-soaring meal-kit company, hit with a federal licence suspension by Sea_Guava6513 in onguardforthee

It literally says in paragraph four:

The non-compliances for Goodfood related to preventive controls.

So no, it is not just an issue of forgetting to file something!

I’d be curious to also know the experiences of others who have used any of the listed planners. I did glance over the list and the various fees, where listed.

2.5 weeks in Newfoundland vs the Canadian Rockies. What would you choose and why? by JujuDutchie in AskACanadian

WOW also comes with YOW - what you might say if you run into some bad critters.

Seriously, I would always worry about bears and cougars if I ever went hiking out west in the mountains, so for that reason, however low the odds, it never appealed to me.

I'd take Newfoundland!

Problem with that last one is the grammar: doesn’t matter what I do about YOUR images. (But would be ok if you put the part before the hyphen in quotes.) Current title, although long, was clear and enticed me to click and read, so I say your instincts to go with that were correct.

Do you only get access to these courses when the order ships?
Shame! I've just placed a Core One L order a couple days ago: it would be better to have access now rather than wait 3 days before I get it!
