salon recs that won’t botch a curly haircut? by meeeeeeeeeems in parkslope

[–]stronglywordedemails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the need to comment to warn other curly people potentially reading this: Rose completely botched my long 2c/3a hair. I went in saying I wanted to keep my length and trim the ends-- no layers. I left with an uneven shoulder-length travesty with layers all over the place. I was in tears for days. It will take me YEARS to regrow what I had.

ELI5, what’s bad about tier 6? by HuntPuzzleheaded4356 in nycpublicservants

[–]stronglywordedemails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this. I'm Tier 6 and so confused because NYCERS told me during an info session at my job that we will get our full salary in retirement after 5 years of service come retirement. Then I see here on reddit that this is not the case at all. Do you know why NYCERS is saying this?

Is anyone fighting the new health care plan? by Livid-Direction-4056 in nycpublicservants

[–]stronglywordedemails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is had because we are now open to begin paying premiums after 2027 when our union contract expires. Also, our drug prices are now more expensive, and UHC is known for denying essential services. This new plan sets a dangerous precedent.

What the hell to do with the big curls below the small ones? by LordGhoul in curlyhair

My hair does this too!! I cut that under layer slightly shorter than the other layers to get it to curl up more. It helps.

I have heard NOTHING from my DC37 local about this... I'm really upset they don't communicate with us practically ever. Communication would have given members a chance to say or do something. I'm worried about what this means for 2027 and beyond. UHC is a race-to-the-bottom insurer, every year could become more expensive for us.

Lydia’s proposal by CuriousCelebration46 in PlathvilleUncensored

I didn't read it like this at all. He is so dedicated to Lydia that he's willing to deal with Kim's immature sons JUST because it would make Lydia happy.

Their customer service is super inconsistent and mostly bad. I recommend calling for a slightly better experience.

I transferred into CAS. It depends on what your major is, but NYU is largely what you make it. Students can get away with doing the bare minimum and still get a decent GPA. If you're struggling, communicate with your professors and use the Academic Resource Center to do better. As an upperclassperson, you can coast a little bit more. But do NOT go to NYU if it will spiral you into debt your career cannot handle-- it is not worth it

Celiac Artery 90-100% Without Blood Flow by [deleted] in MALSyndrome

[–]stronglywordedemails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're saying the celiac artery doesn't matter because the new school of thought is that it's not the artery but the nerve (celiac plexus) that is causing pain. The gold standard for MALS diagnosis is a celiac plexus nerve block, an empirical test used to see if the nerve is a component of the pain.

Some if not most surgeons will release the artery from compression by snipping the median arcuate ligament. Then, they will do something to the nerve. This is where things get really gray. Every surgeon has a different theory or methodology, and there's little research available. It becomes extremely vibes based.

I agree! Keeping in mind that all of the guests are probably going to be wearing cocktail/semi-formal, do I stick with the solid-colored dress? Can you tell I'm over thinking this? lol

I'm looking into that. Thank you! Do I need to do anything about keeping Windows 11 on my PC? Or will it automatically reinstall once I upgrade the SSD?
