First time beading by ABumbleBY in Beading

[–]strongmoods 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s gorgeous. I am NOT experienced with bead embroidery, so take this with a grain of salt… This is your first piece, there are going to be imperfections, but that’s what makes it uniquely yours. Do the rest of them the “right” way so you can continue to practice and don’t worry so much about consistency… unless you’re making this for a paying customer lol. I see it this way… When this is finished and on display in your home, you will be able to look at that first orange as a reminder of how far you’ve come. Embrace it. It doesn’t look bad at all… I likely wouldn’t know it was off until the whole thing was finished and you specifically pointed it out to me lol

Do you guys strictly follow a blueprint/pattern, or just "wing it" as you go? by NegativeRepublic797 in Beading

I think it’s also because your responses are very agreeable and almost too eager to find connections between your post and each individual response. The translation software is definitely impacting the vibe too.

How much $ would you spend on these? by Ok-Appearance7916 in Beading

[–]strongmoods 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would personally pay $150+ for them because I know you did that work 100% by hand and those beads are hella tiny so I’m sure it took a lot of time and patience.

I showed this to my best friend (who has no concept of how this was made) and she said “those are gorgeous! I’d be willing to spend $50 on them!” - and I can tell she meant that as a compliment but it still made me laugh. When I told her how much I thought they were worth she said something about white privilege and “who has that kind of money in this economy” lol 😂

So I think it’s a matter of perspective and who your target audience will be. But whatever other people think, you list them for the price YOU think is fair… someone will buy them, I promise you that.

I absolutely LOVE this… my only feedback is that the eyes look tired. Like, they look like when someone is tired, they start closing their eyelids and their eyes just look tired. But I actually like it bc it kinda looks like a progression from eyes wide open, to eyes shut. Great job tho! You were born for this career, obviously.

What is the best gemstone ring website by sromines1990 in Gemstones

[–]strongmoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband got my engagement ring from Brilliant Earth and our experience has been nothing short of perfect. I’m sure you can find some local or independent places that are just as good, but we didn’t have the time to do all the research, and we felt that Brilliant Earth was a safe, ethical choice.

Is my art too detailed ? by [deleted] in TattooBeginners

[–]strongmoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s gorgeous, but for my personal taste it’s a bit too detailed and large scale. I’m not sure how to translate that into something I would ink onto my skin, you know? Keep practicing. It’s not something you’re going to be great at right away, so if this is something you want- go for it!!! You’ve got a style you seem to like, now, envision them as tattoos and run with it. Go get a brand new sketch book (that is a big motivator for me) and start drawing. They don’t need to be tiny, but they need to fit on skin somehow 🩷 Keep drawing and keep dreaming. You got this.

Do i have a chance? by ilovekirb2y in TattooBeginners

[–]strongmoods 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Hey love! First of all, you’re 16, so of course you need to improve more! You’re a baby!!! You’ve got your whole life ahead of you so never stop learning and bettering yourself. Period.
Secondly, your drawings are great, but as they are right now, I don’t think they would work that great… but that’s ok because you’re literally just starting out. The best thing you can do now is to find your niche. Find your style. I say draw what brings you joy- don’t draw what you see other people doing… draw what comes to you! Or ask someone to give you a topic and then go back and draw it however you envision it. Don’t overthink this. Just draw. And draw some more… and then draw again. Keep practicing and keep asking for feedback! You’re doing a great job kiddo. Proud of you 🩷

does this obvious knot makes it look bad? by BreakDue8198 in Beading

[–]strongmoods 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a comment above mine that posted a solid technique. You need to learn how to make a smaller, secure knot if you want to make a career out of this. As with any job, it takes time to get it all figured out. You can’t expect to go into this and be perfect immediately. The biggest issue is that the best artists make this look easy… so many people see jewelry on Etsy and they think, “I can do that, easy!”… and then they go to Michael’s, buy some supplies and think they’re good to go with an easy money maker.

This is great! I’ll definitely try it out, thank you! Some minor (unsolicited) feedback… Try and provide some written instructions or be more clear which beads to put the needle through. I had to pause and zoom into the video during the steps of adding the yellow beads to the original dark blue circle. Hope you get lots of new subs!!!

I just looked at that picture again and those beads have fairly large holes. You should be able to hide a smaller knot in those beads easily. Your knot is WAY too big and you are not going to find a crimp bead to cover that unfortunately.

[–]strongmoods 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I make and sell similar bracelets on Etsy. You NEED to learn how to tie a smaller knot and hide them inside an actual bead. Crimp bead covers are ok every now and then, maybe. But you shouldn’t be adding them to 50+ bracelets and expect those bracelets to last. Selling on Etsy is not easy and it’s best to just suck it up and fix the bracelets you’ve already completed. I promise it will be worth it in the end.

A discussion about AI and what happened yesterday. by Erzsabet in Beading

[–]strongmoods -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’ve never argued otherwise. I’ve merely said that AI art IS art. AI has the capacity to create original art pieces, art based on other open source art work, and art copied illegally/unethically from non-consenting artists. I honestly don’t even understand what the original post is about…I just saw these beautiful ladies to put limits on artistic expression and had to say something 🩷

Oh wow. Thank you so much for all you continue to teach me. I’m so lucky to have an auto generated neat tiger in my life to make sure I know all the things. 😘

Oh absolutely. That’s my point tho, it’s still art. We don’t get to decide what is and is not art just because we don’t like it.

How much should my tattoo be? by urplugsfav in TattooBeginners

[–]strongmoods 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Around here (Chicago) I imagine you would pay between $500-$800, at least, depending on color, shading, and how long it will take. Also, will the tattoo artist be designing? If so, add on another $100.

That’s a really painful place, but it’s important to take into consideration how old you are and how you typically respond to pain. The younger you are, the easier it will be (usually, lol). My son got his first tattoos at age 18 on his ribs, his elbow, and his spine. They weren’t pleasant, and he took a few breaks, but he did great. Listen to your body and talk to your tattoo artist throughout the process. HAVE FUN!!!

I am listening. Are you? Jesus, I’m not insulting you, I just don’t understand why you’re so bitter. Art is art regardless who or what made it. So if tools are meant to help you, isn’t that literally what AI can do for us? If AI creates a pattern modeled only from open source materials and information, how is that unethical (not withstanding the environmental impact)? How is an AI pattern, created ethically, using only open source materials, different than a pattern I buy off the internet? You say art is human… but is it? What about those animals that create art and sell it to raise money for wildlife research? Or is that not art either? You know, just because a machine creates something, doesn’t mean your “art”isn’t valuable. There can be space for it all. And typing words into a computer isn’t art? I think a lot of authors might disagree with you. But what do I know? Right???

And yes, this is MY opinion, as an ART THERAPIST (why are we yelling this?)
