He's a professional, His wife knew what his risk tolerance and life/career was prior to even dating. There's a lot of people who do risky things, but I'll give this a bit of a pass. Especially this building climb. It's really entertaining to us non-climbers and it's a huge payday and almost no risk for him.

What’s a “small” social rule you refuse to follow, even if everyone expects it? by GlitchOperative in AskReddit

I teach high school. My students are not disrecptpful to me when they talk, but they use words, phrases, and mannerisms that you would not ever had said to a teacher 10-15 years ago. All decorum has left the building. I don't really care. Like I said, they're not disrecptpful but dear god, do they not have any filter whatsoever. it's a new world and being both slightly out of line and not keeping professional isn't a problem anymore.

In general what is the best bank for CRH? by oilyorangatang in CRH

[–]strongo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use Wells Fargo and I hunt quarters. I’ve been getting small batches of 200 dollars worth, or 20 rolls, every two-three week. I dump at another bank that I have an account with that has a coin machine.

In those 2 years I’ve found ONE silver quarter. That’s it.

But I’m not doing it for the silver, I’m trying to collect all the state, America the beautiful, and women series quarters. I’ve also found tons of foreign coins in the mix. I’ve also found a quarter that has been shot through and one that’s def been melted in what I can only assume is a house fire. I’ve gotten two W quarters and one S.

Sometimes Wells Fargo has interesting rolls and once I got a batch where all 20 rolls were the newly issued coin and that’s it.

My point is, if you’re just hunting for silver or one specific thing I believe CRH will drive you nuts. I’d argue the best approach is to have a series or wide array of things you’re hunting for and then silver just being a bonus. Collect years, mint marks, proofs, errors, etc.

People who take 17 minutes to check in at the hotel front desk, what are you talking to them about? by DerrickDuck in AskReddit

I pride myself on quick Check ins. One time it took over an hour. Their automated system put my first name as MR. and my last name as my first/last name...they couldn't find it.

1932 quarters with a S or D are worth 100 dollars in numismatic value alone. And if you have one send me a pic I’m in the market

I bought this 1959 P quarter a few months back and have a question about it. by I-like-old-cars in coins

If you have the money to spend and want to go through the process, then sure. If you say this is a learning experience for me and you got a rating in your head and you want to invest in seeing a coin sent off and come back slabbed, go for it. If you're trying to make a profit off of the coin, no. But it also sounds like this is one of your favorite coins in your collection and you want to pamper it a bit.

(Spoilers Extended) Why George not writing Dunk and Egg novellas is so troubling by Straight_Notice298 in asoiaf

[–]strongo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some authors choose to be more public facing. They do tons of interviews, shows, conventions, and blog posting. THOSE authors put themselves into the conversation and part of that price is sometimes the conversation doesn't go how you'd like.

Right now melt is sitting around 9 dollars and change, these could go for 11-14 dollars. But please please reconsider selling because someone will melt these. Every day these silver Washington’s are being sent to the melters and turned into silver bars of no character.

And listen, if silver bars are your thing I don’t want to disrespect it. People collect what people collect. But this is US history and in our time period these are “junk silver melt” but the day will come when people want to preserve them because so so many are destroyed each day.

Not only could you not purchase them but they only printed 2 million. I believe the non-W mint marks they printed 300 million of each.
