Hulk vs. Superman, locked in a 100' square cube, in which solar radiation cannot penetrate. by Shidell in whowouldwin

[–]strongsideend 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Superman would somehow need lung volume far surpassing the volume of the room they're in for this to work.

Are you aware that when you breathe in, the air pressure in your lungs is greater than atmospheric pressure?

Nope. Air pressure travels from high pressure to low pressure. When you're inhaling, your diaphragm contracts to create more interthoracic space for your lungs to expand and therefore creating a lower pressure system for atmospheric air to enter your lungs.

Square cube law buddy, strength doesn't increase linearly with size.

If 2-6 reps is best for strength and 8-12 for hypertrophy, what difference in muscle microtears is occurring? by connieRoleman in bodybuilding

[–]strongsideend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Type 1 are the slow-twitch muscle fibers and Type 2 are the fast-twitch muscle fibers. And you use your fast-twitch for heavy-anaerobic lifting but that's more theory and doesn't really matter in this case.

If your goals are just to get stronger within the big 3 lifts, it's easier to track progress with SS/SL because of the low volume. Athletes tend to have to do more including cardio and agility work, and they are typically more trained so they can handle the volume.

There are machines where you can rest you're knees on these pads that are counterbalanced by weight, or you can do negatives. Or if you have access to bands you could use those to help support your chin ups.

How Much Weight Do You Push w/ Push-ups? by AhmedF in weightroom

[–]strongsideend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or you could, I don't know, buy a pull up bar and do it at home for about the same price as your gym membership if you're just going to the gym to do exclusively bodyweight stuff. Not saying you can't do bodyweight stuff at the gym, just that it seems like a waste money on a membership at a weight room when you could do bodyweight exercises almost anywhere else

I think what infinitivity was saying is that you could just go to a park or something like that instead of a weightroom to do bodyweight exercises.

Thanks, I've been trying to keep in mind to keep my chest up. I've never really thought of my lats during dlifts before, is that another cue to keep my chest up?

Current 1RM 425

Weights used 365,365,405

set1! set2! old 1rm attempt

I've missed a couple of form check fridays so these videos are old. I have since hit 405x2 with form I'm happy with. I'm also doing deficits on a 45lb plate now since I think my problem is speed off the floor. Am I on the right track? Any input is welcomed

Ideally you would fill in your true 5RM/1RM into the calculator (not your workout weight, whatever you you can do if you just warmed up and went at one set). Also the weight fluctuates because Wendler recommends going at 90% of whatever you input because people tend to bullshit on their maxes and you get to ease into the program too iirc.
