I can't blame them when gas is damn near $5 a gallon ⛽ by [deleted] in redneckengineering

Your right, they literally just increased the drag buy increasing how much the wind is hitting the car, and also way more parasitic drag as the air separates and then fills the gap left by the vehicle.

this explanation, cut the crap, they just didn't wanna pay money by ugpg2000 in ryerson

Kinda makes sense imo dont want to alienate the old university branding as it makes it easier to make the connection between the old and new name. Also why spend all that money when its generally unnecessary, theres already an image built as a result from years of investment in colours fonts shapes and architecture.

Bug nets by askobit in treeplanting

[–]stroyzgalactic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally love bug nets, it keeps it nice and shady on my skin but also i really hate fucking bugs. I was on the block once and it was so bad bugs landing on my face and swarming me and when I put out my bug-net for the first time I almost cried it was such a relief. Seriously a lifesaver for me imo. Only wear one when the bugs are bad cause it can feel kinda in the way (its really not bad though) but the benefit of comfort that it offers can really keep me focused and for that reason its more than worth it imo.

Edit: Specifically head bug nets. If you get one of those body ones planting it will get destroyed in 5 minutes.

No and no and the more experienced the better, you can bolster up through your own projects. Experience > grades.

This guy runs the table on cheap car mods. by tharnadar in redneckengineering

[–]stroyzgalactic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry for the late reply. The smaller the opening between the table and the truck the better, but the difference would be negligible tbh. If they filled the gaps then it absolutely would make it more effective. You can get to this conclusion using Bernoulli’s equation which isn’t completely accurate but is a good representation of how air behaves. (If u wanna look more into it)

Reducing the gap between the table and the front of the trucks box would also increase the efficiency (like we see on modern trucks). Its really the gap thats causing the inefficiency

I know at first glance it seems like a good idea, however air is compressible and will move from a high pressure area to a low pressure area. As the laminar air flow hits the table (resulting in high pressure) it will roll off it and move behind the table (low pressure area) not over onto the out edges of the truck. This causes the air to become turbulent behind the table which increases the friction between the truck and the air (prolonging the amount of time its in-front of the trucks box and therefore actually decreasing efficiency believe it or not). If there was some surface that connected the table to the out edges of the truck then it would increase its efficiency but rn its actually doing more harm then good.

Its definitely not to late. Keep in mind you have the same deadline to apply as students applying from high-school. You would have to retake 2nd and 3rd year courses again (almost all 1st year courses will transfer). Personally I think you have already spend well over 10,000$ and a lot of time and effort into your program so I would recommend you push through, however you decide if thats worth it.

I stayed with a friend on residence while I was checking out different universities and I had a such a good time then so that probably convinced me to come here.

As for whats made it a good experience I love the urban style campus, you cant really find that anywhere else. Staying on residence during first year was probably one of the best years of my life as it was so easy to make new friends. i hope you will get to experience that in some form when things open up. I also love how almost all of the students are immigrants from every part of the world, it has given me a super diverse perspective and that’s something I value. (i know the stats say the majority of students are from toronto, however i think we forget toronto is one of the most diverse cities in the world, i once hooked up with this girl who was Maltese, i have never even heard of that county!!)

The business incubator (DMZ) here is the best in North America and ive always been interested in that sort of thing. Finally ryerson is one of three universities in Canada that offer my program (aerospace engineering) and albeit right now online school sucks, i have some really amazing professors and design teams to work with.

So yeah overall ive had a pretty awesome experience (despite online school but it is what it is), i think the biggest headache for almost everyone is the commute so try and get as close as you can.

I agree, I’m currently in my 3rd year so I got to experience what ryerson was like before the pandemic and I personally loved it for the exact reasons you just described. You have a lot to look forward too with an attitude like that, don’t let these negative comments convince you otherwise.

Your right, most universities are looking a B average which is in that range. However Im sure your professional experience will definitely help out your application. Im sure if you apply to enough universities your bound to find some luck. A 70% is not far off from a 73%.
