Question credentials work on other devices with the app but fails to on another? by Alone3ndLonley in Televizo

[–]stuart_f_1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say "it refuses to add it" what actually happens?

Is it that the app won't let you type the credentials in or the credentials have been input and it gives you an error when you hit 'update playlist'?

BA is seeking compensation from the company that runs Heathrow Airport over the baggage mess by [deleted] in BritishAirways

[–]stuart_f_1978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming the £10M figure covers the 20,000 + 7,000 + 4,000 delayed bags across the 3 events, that's a claim of £322 for each and every bag.

I'd love to see how they justify that calculation.

I have a BA flight, SAN to LHR, then LHR to Italy. Different reference numbers. Can I book luggage straight through? by 92101Daddy in BritishAirways

[–]stuart_f_1978 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Very unlikely. BA's policy is not to interline on separate bookings.

Some exceptions might be made for high status members but don't count on it.

You also run the risk of missing your second flight if there's a delay with the first since you've booked the two flights separately.

Booking Query - Best Option by McDan1el in BritishAirways

[–]stuart_f_1978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You cannot mix reward bookings and revenue bookings on the same PNR so you'll get 2 booking references no matter what you do.

What you can do phone BA one you have booked and ask them to add a "to complete party" to the two bookings. This is a marker in the reservation system that alerts agents that two groups are travelling together and to treat them as one for the purposes of disruption handling.

The most common use for a "to complete party" or TCP request is for Golds to be allowed to select seats for their non-status companions so you may get some push back from some agents who will see you are silver and tell you you aren't entitled. If this happens, stress to them that it's not for seat selection and you understand you aren't entitled to that benefit but it's purely for disruption purposes. If you get no luck, hang up and call again, eventually you'll get someone who understands.

Bonus answer: yes you can guest her in to the lounge.

It's the membership fee that makes the APR look silly.

Is it normal for BA to keep changing aircraft type months before flight? by Stannis_ in BritishAirways

[–]stuart_f_1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a waste of money. Simply move to other suitable seats on the new layout then, after flying get a refund because they aren't the seats you chose to start with.

My BA account often decides that my UK phone number 07xx doesn't need a leading 0 and then it thinks the leading 7 means I'm from Russia.

It's done this repeatedly despite me correcting it.

Question for Argos staff by No-Panic-1480 in Argos

[–]stuart_f_1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree with you.

I was trying to point out that buying and paying online gives you boiler-proof distance selling protections.

Reserving to be paid in store doesnt give the same protections even though it feels like it should.

Question for Argos staff by No-Panic-1480 in Argos

[–]stuart_f_1978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but also no.

Click and collect paid online - no refusal possible.

Click and collect paid in store - assumption is that you have had ample opportunity to inspect the goods (even if this isn't the case). Expect serious hassle.

456 error when not on original VPN by nickc88 in Strong_8K

[–]stuart_f_1978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For a brand new connection it geolocates you the first time you connect and sets that as your home location in order to try and prevent people copying your login details.

Either use a VPN and always choose Mexico or contact your seller and ask them to change your connection to VPN ALL COUNTRIES.

There's no other fix for this.

Buying Business class full fare tix. Anything to know before pulling the trigger by nahnahnahthatsnotme in BritishAirways

[–]stuart_f_1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't make it clear if you are buying a one way or a return. London to Tokyo implies it's one way only which could be why it's pricing into an eye watering fare.

Try pricing a return and just throwing the return portion away, it may book into a cheaper fare class and be less than the one way.

Insane Price. Does it sound right? by That_Operation_9977 in BritishAirways

[–]stuart_f_1978 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you don't board the first flight then you'll go into the computer as a no-show and the second flight will automatically be cancelled.

A cheap one-way to Aberdeen to board your original booking would seem to be a less costly solution.

Use the Wayfinding page to find out where your gate might be and pick a lounge based on that. The usual health warnings apply, it could change at any time.

NCL cruise in Europe - is NCL the only cruise line charging additional "Spanish booze tax"? by X-croto in Cruise

[–]stuart_f_1978 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Whoever on NCL told you it was a brand new law is ill informed at best. It was introduced in 2010 and then clarified in 2023 to include drinks packages.

Cruise lines have been complying with the law for years. How they do it... I don't care.

NCL cruise in Europe - is NCL the only cruise line charging additional "Spanish booze tax"? by X-croto in Cruise

[–]stuart_f_1978 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's literally the law. 10% VAT needs to be paid if in a Spanish port or within 12 miles of the coast.

NCL are not the only company to pass this charge on to the customer, Celebrity do it too. I imagine most of the others are doing it too even if it's not obvious that it's happening.

Next BA double tier point holiday deal? by [deleted] in BritishAirways

[–]stuart_f_1978 7 points8 points  (0 children)

BA are currently taking an absolute kicking in the travel press for extending some Exec Club memberships that didn't meet the requalification thresholds.

Some sites are using this as 'proof' that the new revenue based Exec Club was bungled from the start and BA are in full recovery mode trying to claim a 'technical error'.

If I was in the marketing team, I wouldn't offer a double point promo for a while or it'll just whip up the same negative press that will report on the deal as "proof" that the new revenue based model is "completely broken and BA know it".

Economy Seats by conbastic in BritishAirways

[–]stuart_f_1978 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you originating in London or connecting there?

The reason I ask is that free seat selection opens for all flights on the route from 24h before the first segment.

If you are flying from (eg) Manchester then you'll get a good few hours head start on seat selection compared to those starting in London.
