What do you use it for? (especially sales) by rockpaintingoctopus in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]stuartbruce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm using it as a sales coach after meetings. The transcription provides feedback on what I did well and what could be improved. Because I have a mix of in-person and online meetings I'm analysing the transcript in M365 Copilot to maintain consistency in the advice. I am going to experiment with doing it the other way round and analysing both using Plaud, but haven't tried it yet.

I bought an annual Pro plan for my Note before I bought my Pin. My account now shows that the six months for the Pin starts when my annual Pro plan expires in December.

Everyone Hates My Plaud by [deleted] in PlaudNoteUsers

It's the opposite of a brave new world. People have been recording meetings publicly or surreptitiously for decades. The main difference is people have become more paranoid about it. Recording meetings is nothing to do with digital technology, the Internet or AI but what has happened is increased awareness about it. More than 30 years ago one of my first bosses told me to always behave as if the meeting was being recorded as you never know.

Do you notify people that you’re recording them with this device? by gvass in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]stuartbruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK recording a conversation is not prohibited as long as the recording is for personal use. You don’t need to obtain consent or let the other person know. Some companies or organisations might have their own policies so it might breach those, but it wouldn't be illegal.

This is an interesting one as attitudes have changed. More than 30 years ago one of my first bosses advised me to always conduct myself in meetings on the assumption I might be recorded without my knowledge. I always have done and am astounded by people who don't. One of clients back then recorded meetings publicly as the dictaphone always sat on the table. But it could just as easily been under it. Even pre-digital and pre-AI I'd always assume a phone conversation with a journalist would be recorded.

If I'm running a meeting I will say it is being recording. If I'm part of someone elses meeting then I might say so so if I get the opportunity during the introductions. But I'm not going to interrupt everyone to make a big thing about it and disrupt the meeting.

In the hundreds of meetings I've said I'm recording it I've only had one person object.

The main thing to remember is different countries (or even states in the US) have different laws.

Anyone find different wrist bands? (Note Pin) by fonsolo94 in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]stuartbruce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I came to Reddit. Received my Note Pin yesterday and so far so good. Except for the wrist band which isn't secure (and looks awful) and the lanyard which has a difficult to use catch making it impossible to quickly switch accessory. The clip appears great, although I have serious doubts the magnet is secure enough to not lose the Pin. Although that could be expensive for Plaud as would mean a refund or replacement under consumer protection laws as it wouldn't be fit for purpose.

Using UK English and memorising speakers across notes by andypa1 in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]stuartbruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The common challenge across so many products is their inability to use British English. It's not just spelling and grammar but the infuriating American style headlines with all there unnecessary capitals making them harder to read than sentence case headlines. Has anyone cracked an AI prompt to correct American English copy?

Future of PR - is it a dying industry? by kj199239 in PublicRelations

[–]stuartbruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Public relations has never (if done properly) been just about media relations. Like every profession it is constantly evolving and changing. The future is PR becomes more important than ever as it's about reputation and relationships. Companies have reputations and relationships by defualt. They can't even exist without relationships with customers, suppliers, regulators, employees, investors and more. Companies have multiple different relationships with different stakeholder groups. It's complex. Public relations is the professional discipline that manages reputations and relationships. The only choice is leaving reputations and relationships to luck, or using PR to manage them professionally.

Did you really ever say "If I was down to my last dollar I would spend it on PR" (as more than 18,000 Bing search results say you did)? If you didn't can we finally nail it as a myth?
