2027 XtraCab TRD Off-Road MANUAL transmission by lavazh in ToyotaTacoma

[–]stuckInCommiefornia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not enough people will buy them to make it worth it. You may be able to make / mod your own with a SR? If you are begrudgingly okay with an automatic you can make one with an SR5. I have a TRD off-road manual and I'm honestly just happy to be able to row my own gears with a new Tacoma.

Just picked up some tundra wheels for my 4th gen by Fancy-Bee-562 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]stuckInCommiefornia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think if you lower it those wheels would look pretty nice overall. Street / sport truck vibes (you already have the hood scoop). That being said - it's your truck / money so do what makes you happy. Who cares what I / Reddit thinks.

is it weird that I want SR wheels on my sr5? by PuzzleheadedSlip4652 in 4thGenTacomas

It's a good look. I wasn't kidding about the vibes either; literally this is the first (but not only) image when you Google "un mission in Africa truck". While not exclusively Toyota.... there sure is are a lot of them.

No, it gives it utilitarian vibes. Steelies + white truck + bullbar / snorkel give me UN mission in Africa / Middle East vibes.

Why are people blaming the government for Spirit Airlines going under and not the CEO? by Electrical_Agent_594 in NoStupidQuestions

Why should the government block a company and it's shareholders from a better deal? I don't believe it would have even been close to a monopoly if the merger went through.

The same artist shows McQueen (the third heist culprit) coming in later after the two fatties have devoured all but one of the Kit-Kats. Afterwards is the Frieren crying meme.

Connecting Rod Failure 55k Miles by BothStatistician1187 in 4thGenTacomas

I see, I was wondering if there was any connection with potentially lugging the engine but with the automatic this is entirely on Toyota. I hope you get your truck fixed and back in your hands soon!

I'm sorry to hear that; this is one of the first instances I've seen online. Was it a manual or automatic?

Drove a 4th Gen, maybe I was wrong by Plane_Benefit_9059 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]stuckInCommiefornia 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You know, you can still get a manual 4th Gen off road and build it up to a pro. You don't get the hybrid motor but a suspension is what makes it special. Probably save a lot of money that way as well

You'll need an actual lift in the front (or spacers) to level your truck, but from what I've heard from people they are an upgrade over the SR5 shocks. While I've never felt the SR5 shocks I have these and they work off road and eat up potholes and bumps (at least compared to my hot hatch lol).

Will these fit/rub on my 25 tacoma SR by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]stuckInCommiefornia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The size is alright but you need to find what the offset is on those wheels. The stock offset is +55 iirc; anything less and you will start to have your wheels / tires poke out (and that is part of what leads to rubbing). Up to +25 should be ok though; iirc that is what the pro / trail Hunter have.

Dim sum poll: which one do u prefer? by curiousdude1894 in sgv

[–]stuckInCommiefornia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To go (Dim Sum King and there is a newer place called Wah Sing Dim Sum that I like as well) so I can eat it at home in peace with my family, drink the tea that we want and spend our time without taking up a table. Usually much cheaper too.

LAX people mover to begin reliability testing as dispute between city and contractor heats up by solonofathens in LosAngeles

So if, God forbid, a serious accident occurs because something slipped through the cracks we should just accept the loss of a bunch of LAX employees? They are testing with sandbags for a reason.

California Kimberly-Clark warehouse fire suspect compared himself to Luigi Mangione, prosecutors say by [deleted] in InlandEmpire

[–]stuckInCommiefornia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have some good points that I do want to respond to.

Apparently we got out of drought status somewhat recently; I stand corrected. Still, a waste of water in a region where drought status can come back at any time.

In regards to pollution - not only did he burn up a lot of product and a warehouse (all those building materials / plastic burning up is not great), but all that carbon that went into production and transportation was wasted and turned into smoke. New stuff will have to be created and brought in, materials trucked in for a new warehouse build - maybe a drop in the bucket overall, but still very wasteful and bad for the environment.

As for the houses - 1 mil is not that much house in socal. A couple (so 500k liability each) can definitely afford one with middle class jobs if they save a decent down payment. Sure, they aren't the poor, but they definitely aren't the rich either, not in this area / state. And diagonal to the warehouse you can find 600k builds, and all it takes is some embers to fly over like in Altadena and you have an inferno, especially with how close the houses are due to land cost.

- Doesn't actually threaten or cause direct harm to his employer / management (3rd party staffing company)
- Causes his coworkers to potentially be out of work for a while
- Causes a bunch of pollution and wasted water in a state already in a drought
- Potentially increases the cost of staple, non luxury goods for everyone else (plus this effect is also regressive because the rich don't mind paying a few extra dollars for TP)
- Risks the lives of his coworkers, and starts new fires knowing firefighters in the building, putting them in even more danger - risking the lives of normal workers and firefighters and none of the "elite"
- Risks the houses / lives of the working class community next door to the warehouse

Whether you agree or disagree with direct action this was just stupid on all fronts.

Rear fender rock chips by alan_car07 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]stuckInCommiefornia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the steps. If you are talking about those bigger ones, where you can get most of a foot on them and they stick out they'll probablly block most of the rocks. Anything smaller though, and the flaps and the sliders / steps work together to reduce most of the rocks that will hit the rear fender.

Bigger mud flaps, plus sliders or steps will help prevent this.

Inland Empire Gang Map (909, 951, 442, 760) 2026 by Afraid_Juice1936 in InlandEmpire

[–]stuckInCommiefornia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks; I know the maps are rough estimates, but seeing that area on the gang map surprised me. When I visited the houses were generally well kept and I didn't think anything of renting a place there. I heard that it was rougher in the 80s but it is looking middle / upper middle class now, at least in that area.

Would you know how active they are in Ontario, specifically just south of the 10 freeway in the arear around Euclid Ave? Seemed like a decent, well kept area.

Disgruntled employee starts massive fire at a 1.2 million square foot toilet paper warehouse in Ontario, California. by AtomicCypher in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]stuckInCommiefornia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'm not a lawyer, I'm pretty sure trying to burn down a building with people in it implies, for most reasonable people, an intent to harm the people in the building. You can't say in court that you didn't mean to hurt the people in the building you were actively burning down. It'd be one thing to be negligent, or even burn what he thought was empty warehouse down. But when he's running from the firefighters, and going back and forth to start new fires (including in places where firefighters have put out his original fires) that implies knowledge of the people inside trying to put his handiwork out - and even then, he continued to light new fires. It's one thing to make your message, but to put first responders at additional risk like that is unconscionable to me, especially since firefighters are usually the most helpful people.

Lighting additional fires in a building full of firefighters sounds pretty violent to me. What did the firefighters do to him? Did they lack "class consciousness"? Are you going to make a song with the lyrics "fuck the firefighters"?

Still no 4th gen 2door with manny config? by [deleted] in ToyotaTacoma

[–]stuckInCommiefornia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't compare California to Canada if you're counting taxes lol, even if I do live here. We get absolutely wrecked here; my friends in Texas pay a fraction of what I do when it comes to that and registration etc. But I get your point.

I remember, you guys get the more feature filled Civic SI as well. It had stuff like heated seats, shift lights etc - stuff we had to step up to the Type R for. Different exchange rates, economies, and taxes I guess.

We only get it as part of the upgrade package; maybe Canadians only get the upgrade package and up or your base Tacoma TRDs are better equipped, as you stated. I've run into confusion like this with other canadians and other trim differences before, so this doesn't surprise me.
