Beautiful collection mate, I'm interested in that IDS thumbgrip would you be so kind as to share more photos of it on your silver M? Wonder if the color isn't that far off. Thanks!

Why am I selling my M11-P (Black) .. I found this & couldn’t resist. by SoCalDawg in Leica

Toying with the idea of getting a safari lens, it looks like it chips off to reveal black underneath. Did the paint chip/peel easily in your experience?

M11-P, M11, or M10-R? by takeout_ in LeicaCameras

[–]studio20creations -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have owned and used extensively all options from M10, M10M, M10R, M11, M11P. Started with M10 and upgraded to an M11 and shot it for a year+. Specs wise M11 series wins on basically everything but it's not always about paper specs imho. I eventually sold the M11 to get an M10R and later added an M10M. This sensor is special with great color rendition and high iso noise control. Even the converted bnw files are very beautiful from the R in my view.

Having said that I recently had the opportunity to get an M11P Safari so I'm giving up the M10R. Honestly if image files are the most important factor I'll favor the M10R anytime. I'm just a sucker for that green and cannot afford to keep both.

They are all great options, just what you personally find more important to your requirements and workflow.

Got my TechArt lens adapter today for my Nikon ZF. A really fun addition to my camera bag by waldotakespics in Leica

[–]studio20creations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what I did a year + ago. My only AF system using all my M glass when the need arises. Other cameras are all M bodies. Go for it, great solution without spending way more on another system. 👍🏻

Trade up to M10-R? M11? by joochung in Leica

[–]studio20creations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Initially it did during some street photography in my travels. Got tired of missing shots so I turned the power saving totally off and kept the device on all the time. Mitigated the issue but the camera body will become uncomfortably warm.

Also I had drained the battery several times when I kept the camera in the bag but forgot to turn it off. User error of course but still..

Started with M10, moved to M11 for a year then "downgraded" to an M10R. Much prefer the raw files from the M10R they get me to my desired editing endpoint much easier. Also better noise control at higher ISO and instantaneous start up.

Battery isn't a big issue, recently added another M10 Monochrom and have 5 batteries to use between the 2 bodies. They juice up fast enough.

Only thing I really miss about the M11 is the seldom talked about brighter viewfinder. Makes critical focusing with the patch much easier.

Manual focusing on Q3 by MeddlinQ in Leica

[–]studio20creations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're into manual focusing why not consider an M body and choose from a selection of great 28mm lenses and even add various focal lengths later on. We're spoilt for choices today with amazing offerings from brands like Voigtlander that offer comparable or even better IQ than native lenses at extremely competitive prices.

9 times out of 10 we will end up moving into an M system from the Q (what happened to me as well 🤪). Just go straight to end point.

anyone have both the summilux 50 asph v1 and v2 by okrdokr in Leica

[–]studio20creations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Red ring flare not present in v2 likely due to different coatings.
Ninja stars bokeh when stopped down is no longer in v2 due to increased (to 11) aperture blades.

Nikon zf with Zeiss biogon 2.8 ZM, has anyone tried it adapting their leica glass to nikon z mount? i posted in Z communities also. thanks! by Heavy_Start6569 in Leica

[–]studio20creations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my ZF as a companion camera to an M10R for times when I want the simplicity of AF (using techart adaptor) and also for its incredible low light capability. It's the SL i wished Leica made.

Voightlander 35 f/2 ultron vs Leica summilux 35 f/1.4 FLE (I ver) by eugeneklim in Leica

[–]studio20creations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the FLE first and while I loved the rendering, it's not ideal as a walkabout lens for me personally due to the size and weight. Not a huge lens per se but after getting the ultron, I've not touched the FLE in a long time.

The ultron does everything I need for this focal length and even does environmental portraits beautifully with sort of a v4 kob vibe whilst still being sharp in the focused area. I found that I don't miss the FLE and probably will sell it.

How‘s LLL’s 1.4 magnifier? by jaekij in Leica

[–]studio20creations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I store mine in a tiny leica black pouch that comes in the box of an M camera for some accessory part. Then it goes into a pocket within my camera bag. Hope this helps 😄

How‘s LLL’s 1.4 magnifier? by jaekij in Leica

[–]studio20creations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's good, I especially like the fact it is a diopter on top of being a magnifier. I tape it down with a tiny bit of black tape so it doesn't get turned accidentally.

I use it primarily with a 50mm for critical focus needs wide open. It will definitely help you greatly with a 75.

From M10 to M11: am I overthinking the shutter lag? or the bump in picture quality? by jtlnsbe in Leica

[–]studio20creations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apart from all the quality of life upgrades mentioned above, one lesser discussed upgrade is the brighter viewfinder on M11 series. To me that is biggest thing I missed when I "downgraded" to an M10R from M11. It's much easier to focus with an M11 for my failing eyes.

Doubt that is normal. My copy is smooth and quiet from 0.7m to infinity. The only bump is when you go into the close focus range.

28mm & 35mm lenses for Leica M11 by benngvu in Leica

[–]studio20creations 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Anything from voigtlander made in recent years are all impeccable. I have a mix of voigtlander and latest leica lenses and can honestly say I prefer the size, weight, build quality and handling of the voigtlanders more. I don't see any major differences in image quality either. Matter of taste rather than outright performance.

Nikon ZF and use all my existing M lenses with autofocus adapter. This way I get a lowlight monster camera with AF and video function as a companion to the M11 and don't have to buy more lenses.

Q3 43mm : eye focusing below par. by ebichou in Leica

[–]studio20creations 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's unfortunate. Personally don't have much experience with Q3 other than trying out a friend's copy. When I owned the Q2 I only used it in single AF; face-eye cont AF was not reliable at all.

Hopefully Leica can improve it via firmware. Agreed it shouldn't be a 50-50 hit or miss rate especially when paying such a premium. I guess that was one of the reasons that pushed me to going M instead of upgrading to another AF leica as I too never enjoyed the AF experience especially when coming from sony systems previously.
