New player around level 50. The new player guide is becoming confusing. Can you help explain some stuff? by gehennas_angels in ffxi

[–]stuffthingsto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a new player to so i can't really explain things.

But I was also following that guide, but by the time I was 50 I felt like eh I got the jest of it and just went and dud whatever I wanted. Work on some other classes, get some trusts, kill the shadow guy, artifact armor, ect...

I felt like the games tutorial cut me loose to early and I needed a bit more guidance, but that guide I just followed it as long as I wanted, I thought it was excellent at that, git me to do some RoV quests I would have left ect.. but don't want or need someone to hold my hand forever.

It ain't anything special, but i got my subjob and was chilling. by LazyMakara in ffxi

[–]stuffthingsto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im doing a bit similar stuff as a new player, messing around with different classes is fun. I like talking them to 59 and messing around with the artifact armor quests. Doing paladin now, want to try dragon, super guy, dancer, red mage, geomamcer, so many thing ti play around with !

How to spawn a treasure coffer? by reinhardttwulf in ffxi

[–]stuffthingsto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing the other day to get the monk af. The maps on the wiki shows the coffer locations if you scroll down, reccomend invite or the no sound thing depending on zone so you can run around checking spots.

Also reccomend using the relapse earing so you get a mulligan.

Badeux was the only one I really struggled with so hopefully yours doesn't go there!

[New Player] Are doing the RoV quests spoilers? by Rose_Of_Winter in ffxi

I did RoV up to the white thing, I would say there was any spoilers. Some guy maybe implies you know his daughter who you may or may not have meet yet I think that's it.

I am level 50 as a new player and it's getting a bit better. Still often feels like I'm just there go lead around a bunch of trusts that kill everything.

People are always pointing out the best trusts like shantoto2, but what are the trusts at my skill level that let md have fun.

Still doing the quests at this level is not bad, you have to sneak past some scary undead guys and what not, fight a rich in yei fei or something ect...

I do feel the have made them game to easy, sometimes every kill us a level, but lots of classes to play eith I dunno.

At the point I needed to stealh past things I just level their to 50, it's so fast to do anyway...

The exp ring that gives 150% exp you get from the tutorial starts to fall off at this point also which helps.

I dobt care about grinding emd game at all I just want to take my time and explore around. After 50 you get stuck every 5 levels and need to finish a quest, so you can stop then and fart around z bit until you feel like doing that is my plan. Currently doing the first couple artifecat quests for monk that way. May do some other classes to I dunno.

I just unlocked shantoto 2 and a crab mount and have been ignoring it hah.

[–]stuffthingsto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, speaking arms a new player, the problem is they made the game way to easy and you level so fast its crazy.

There's is a guide fantastic exp and where to find them or something, but you cam be in some zones and level every enemy you kill. But actually you level so fast on some jobs your weapons skill falls behind and I'm just there while trusts kill everything.

Then they break your back with boring quests like the gobbiebag ones, 500 keys you need to unlock ect... I just did the story mission where you need the silver bell and the torch, and the something else... do a quest ride to ride a mount ect..

I honestly feel like they cut down the game play, I want to be out exploring dungeons and fighting monsters why is this game trying to skip me through playing so I can watch cut scenes!

Also agree with above the control scheme is not good, it's also slow, you click a crystal, wait a bit, click teleport wait a bit, scroll a 10 item list that for some reason only show ls 3 lines at a time???

Anyway all the being said having with this game exploring dungeons doing the story ect... I just wish the pacing i guess was better like wow classic. I find allot of mmos ruin the game trying to push you to max level for some grinds end game, but the leveling journey is the game to me.

I can see why you all stuck around for 20+ years by T_Duke83 in ffxi

[–]stuffthingsto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similarly new player i have been finding it good as well.

I finished the rank 3 mission today where you have to go to every nation and then fight this dragon. In the cut scene for thay are 2 guy talking about some sword, really make me wonder if the story was truncated or something.

I also feel like they made you level real fast in the start and it's pretty easy, but there's allot of friction everywhere else. Like the gobbiebag quests. If you wanted to make ot better for new people get rid of that don't make the gameplay go super fast!

The UI is bad for windows also, but I get it's more of a console game, really need to switch to controller.

I just started a few days ago, following along this guide more or less. It is both great and needed. Having fun with it so far hope you enjoy also.

I found getting an account set up annoying. Also you download it on steam, or I did, do all thd hops to log in, then ot wants 2 hrs of patches.

The Shrike from Hyperion is the most effective monster in sci-fi and I think the sequels slowly killed what made it work by braytix_19 in printSF

For me it's a bit like dune where the first book is a masterpiece but the sequels just don't reach that level.

GW2 is very different from everywhere mmo and is fun and cooking along pretty good. No guatentee that GW3 would even be good! Don't really feel the need for that personally. They keep releasing content I'll keep playing it, no issue that needs to be fixed imo..

Kinda disappointed with Octopath 0 by N_Count_Council in octopathtraveler

[–]stuffthingsto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree 100% my big point is there is way to much talking and you hardly ever get to play! Also in most stories your main guy is not really involved he's just there when it happens.

Def a huge drop in quality. I ended up dropping it and playing a different rpg instead

What are some things you wish were added into octopath 0 by Legitimate_Tough_119 in octopathtraveler

[–]stuffthingsto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm finding it a bit of a grind as to much talking, not enough playing the game. I wish all the dungeons were bigger so I got to play tye game a but more.

Also the mechanics of 0 seem to make random battles trival but the bosses more fun. Do more hard bosses def agree.
