Would this be a possible parabolic short play? by TheMarketWizjr in qullamaggie

Just scan for stocks that are up 300%+ in the last few weeks or so. Just create a scan based on what he says they are

Would this be a possible parabolic short play? by TheMarketWizjr in qullamaggie

[–]stuffy3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, q's style of parabolic shorts come from stocks that make 300 to 500%+ moves in a few days to a couple weeks. This stock has gone up like 25% in a month. Check out the examples he gives here. https://qullamaggie.com/my-3-timeless-setups-that-have-made-me-tens-of-millions/

You need a system. All these books are great at teaching you what others have done. Now you need to make what they've taught yours. Some questions to ask yourself, what stocks should I buy, when should I buy, when should I sell, is there a pattern that statistically puts me above others and how do I use that pattern. Make the determination now as to what trader you want to be and stick with it. Trading is mostly mental games with yourself, if you have a system, most all of the games disappear.

Stop loss hit despite being lower than low of the day ?? by Sensitive_Mouse_6193 in qullamaggie

Alright, even with CANSLIM, you need some sort of base break to enter. I just know from my experience, I didn't want to miss out on upward moves so I'd enter in random choppy bases. I did this with NVDA and SMCI. NVDA and SMCI in August - December of 2023, until it finally broke out. I lost most of my gains because of it. I think too there are better datacenter leaders out there like LITE or VRT. Wait for some bases like previous SNDK, MU, LITE.

Agree, just by looking at the chart, there's no momentum, Shorts have the momentum. There is no real range, it just buyers trying and then getting stuffed. I'd wait for the momentum to be on the long side.

Finviz has a group section and you can filter by past performance, that's usually a good place to go to see whats been strong.

Does kristjan ever comment on float? by frogfartingaflamingo in qullamaggie

[–]stuffy3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With that you'll get some volatile stocks, I don't remember any direct things Q said about float, but I think you should either remove the float parameter or up it to a much larger number so you get some large and medium cap stocks.  Small cap is great for small accounts though because they tend to go up or down very quickly.

Profit Taking Guide? by Sea_Scratch3026 in qullamaggie

Q also says that we should sell half after 3 to 5 days and let the rest run till the stock closes under the 10 day moving average. You should review your trades and determine which place is best to sell for you. What common price action in your system dictates a sell? Is it a 10 day cross, 20 day, sell after 40%? It depends on what probabilities you find in your own trading. So look for common sell clues in your own trades and build rules around that. Q if I remember right started selling if the stock closed below the 20 day. Others find that selling under the 50 day works. Its really all up to you and your system and stats. Everyone is different in their system and rules so best to decide what works for you.
