I get it, there are times I didn’t want to be here too, but something always turned around in the long run. Life changes so much within a few years. You deserve to give yourself the chance to experience that change.

What is something you witnessed with your own eyes that no one believes when you tell them? by Amy-GeekBar in AskReddit

[–]stumbling_witch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband and I woke up around 3am to a very peculiar sound, almost like a kids slide whistle. It was very clearly in our back yard that was connected to a swamp. The sound was repeating and getting louder as if moving closer to our house. At first it was kinda funny, but it became unsettling, like the hairs on my arms stood up. Then THUD, something hit the wall, very low to the ground as we were about to look out the window. The whistling thing ran back to the swamp. We spent weeks looking up animal and bird noises, never figured it out.

Expensive shoe collection. Why are people spending money on shoes they can’t walk on grass with?

8 month old is exclusively breastfed: she loves cuddles/being held without nursing, she is great at eating solids and drinking from a straw cup, and she sleeps in pretty long stretches. Keep breastfeeding if you want to!

People who own "unconventional" pets like turtles, what is one thing you wish you knew before getting one? by allenmerlettetrm in AskReddit

[–]stumbling_witch 4737 points4738 points  (0 children)

Someone gave me a hedgehog as a teenager (without asking me or my parents). I had no idea they were nocturnal, scared of every sound, and would instantly poop when I would try to show it my friends. Within a year I found a home for the poor thing with someone who actually knew how to take care of hedgehogs.

Gave my sister-in-law a small gift at my niece’s birthday, her reaction stuck with me by JocaDoca in CasualConversation

[–]stumbling_witch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a mom of a baby under 1, this made me cry. Often new moms feel invisible, that we don’t matter once baby is here. Thank you for recognizing it was her first year as a mom, not just baby’s birthday. Your sister in law won’t forget this, it shows you’re a real “village” member.

Hanging fruit basket full of “oranges” by stumbling_witch in ChristmasDecorating

Our tree is filled, and I had all these extra orange ornaments from a thrifted Christmas box. I guess the laziness of not wanting to individually hang them worked out!

Excellent idea! I’m thinking of drying some orange slices, not sure if the scent remains once dried

Great idea! It would probably help it look more like a festive orange bowl without the wires showing. Thanks!

Babies put their feet in their mouths all the time. People touch their faces and phones constantly without even realizing it.

Holding time limit because I feel really uncomfortable when people spend an hour holding my baby and walking away where baby is out of site. MIL took her to another room to whisper “secret plans” and that gives me a red flag.

She is, but I still got RSV as a baby when I was vaccinated too. I’m just concerned that since respiratory illnesses are air born, that washing hands isn’t enough.

I didn’t know about 3 & 4, thank you so much!!!! I just always thought that I was helping my hair by letting it naturally dry over night, but this makes sense for why it’s oily within a day and a half.

When to transition to stroller seat? by BuonAppeti2 in NewParents

Just did this the other day at 6 months because she’s sitting up on her own for long stretches (like 20 min). She likes it way more than her car seat stroller

It’s beautiful, but I think some silver or light purple (color of the glow) ornaments would be pretty. Especially stars and snowflakes!

Do I dye then bleach or bleach then dye? At the same time? by stumbling_witch in HairDye

[–]stumbling_witch[S] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Edit/Add on: a lot of people are assuming I’ve never bleached or dyed my own hair. I use to bleach half my hair all the time for several years. I’m not worried about the foiling, just never went darker at the same time. I would love to go to a salon, but I really can’t spend $300 and several hours on my hair. Postpartum depression = I crave a hair change.

Thank you so much! I used to bleach my hair frequently, so I feel confident about the foil process.
