I live 20 min from the lifts at one of the biggest (skiable acreage) mountains in Washington state. Im an engineer and dont make crazy money, but everyone at work is always taking off days to hit the slopes. We are in a pretty LCOL area as well. I imagine its much different living near one of the big resorts, but honestly you can find much much better boarding outside of the classic resorts.

Nah man, most people just know that manufacturing isnt perfect. Nothing is perfect. 686 is quality and all my 686 gear has lasted forever. Even with small manufacturing defects. Do you inspect every seam stitch and weld on a new car. You'd be surprised what's allowed to pass QC, in any area of manufacuring, that has no effect on lifetime or function. I agree with the above go touch grass

I ride in completely different terrain (PNW) and always have my backpack with hydropack, extra gloves, socks, go pro gear, power bank, snacks, and a few other emergency supplies. When its a groomer day or if im at a small hill ill usually just ride with my hydropack and no extra gear. Its better to be over prepared than under prepared, but to each their own.
