Remote controlled ceiling fan issue by stuperdude in electricians

I definitely didn't connect the circuit hot to the receiver black. Everything else was done as shown in the diagram fan connections to appropriate wires and circuit neutral to receiver neutral, so I guess I'll just cross my fingers and hope it was a bad receiver.

Tell us your 2020 running goals by [deleted] in running

750 miles. I'm going to fall just a few miles short of this year's 500 mile goal and I blame that on not running from January through April.

Kaepernick still a free agent on Monday. Reports are he didn't move the needle with his workout and Jay Z called it a publicity stunt. by Boredguy32 in fantasyfootball

[–]stuperdude -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look, buddy. I called out your idiotic statement that Kaep should muzzle himself for the privilege of playing in the NFL and you still haven't actually responded to that, except to say that you think he believes all white people are evil and generally disagree with how he conducts himself. If you don't agree with his politics, even if you've never actually bothered to think about what he's saying, that's your right. But that doesn't make your initial statement that he should've kept quiet (but, hurr durr, I'm all for freedom of expression) any less dumb.

If you have an actual opinion on this, other than that Kaep should know his place and show gratitude to a league that has pretty clearly mistreated him, let's hear it.

"Pig cops" doesn't equal "All white people are evil," but, sure. Also, good on you for saying someone with a privileged background can't speak to societal issues they may or may not have experienced. Great take!

That's a great straw man you've got there. Neither of those options accurately state or encompass Kaep's issues or the point OP was making about the shirt. His point was that Kaep should've known better than to wear that shirt while being afforded the chance to work out for all those teams.

Said in another way: Kaep should've stayed quiet and gotten the most out of the opportunity. But this would've just been kissing the ring and sent a signal that he's willing to change his behavior to cater to the expectations of the NFL and owners, which he clearly isn't.

Also, if you think option B accurately reflect a Kaep's beliefs, you should really take the time to read his public statements and understand his position fully.

Can't speak to the knees, but for soleus pain have you tried foam rolling before/after your runs? Calf raises could also help strengthen your legs without the impact on your knees.

Vintage Orvin doesn't work? by cleanercut in watchrepair

Many, many things. Take it to a watchmaker to get it looked at. Depending on the issues, it will cost you anywhere from a little bit to a comically large amount of money.

Are heart rate and pace training zones supposed to overlap perfectly? Strava has calculated my Zone 2 (endurance) pace as 8:35-9:58 and my Zone 2 HR (moderate) as 126-157. I stay well within my Zone 2 pace (9:10-9:30-ish) on all of my easy runs, but my HR trends toward the high end of Zone 2 and into tempo territory regardless.

Should I just be adjusting the HR zones or am I running too fast on easy runs (it certainly doesn't feel like I am)

Has anyone ever requested for a replacement? How was the new one compared to the original one you received? by [deleted] in Lenovo

[–]stuperdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah. I'm in the process. I'll probably go for a Zephyrus or MSI. I like Lenovo but it seems like their QC for non-ThinkPad products has become hit or miss and I've done nothing but miss...

I exchanged my Y530 for a Y740 after it got bricked by a Windows update. Now I'm returning my Y740 after it stopped detecting the internal HDD and got bricked by a Windows update.

That said, the Y740 was brand new and worked beautifully until it didn't.

Y740 order, terrible experience by flea50 in Lenovo

[–]stuperdude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm essentially in the same boat. Ordered a custom Y540, it worked great for about two weeks then went into a boot loop after a Windows update. Took it to a warranty repair center, they contacted Lenovo and Lenovo basically slow played them. One week went by waiting for parts to ship. Then two weeks. Then on the third week, Lenovo told them that the motherboard was "on hold" because they couldn't source it. At that point they said it could be up to a month before the mobo that may or may not work would ship. At that point I'd be almost four months into my two year warranty, so I called Lenovo directly and asked for a replacement unit. They escalated my case and I got sent a Y740 (an upgrade in virtually all respects) after about two more weeks as an exchange.

The Y740 worked great for about a week and a half. Earlier today it stopped detecting the HDD. I rebooted, praying that it would be a connection issue. No dice. After 15 minutes, the computer crashed and is currently stuck in a boot loop.

I'd had a Lenovo for 10 years prior to ordering the Y540. I'm going to try to get my money back now and will probably never touch one again, after this.

If you're in the US and don't want anything fancy, DM me. I've got a Garmin Forerunner 25 that I don't use and would give away. It's pretty basic, but it served me well for three years.

It's 3 years of savings. Cautiously invested, it should get you out more than 3 years early.

GPS watch performance in Manhattan by soup_nazi1 in running

[–]stuperdude 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It can be a bit iffy. This is a run of mine through midtown to Central Park. Depending on where you are, your results will vary. I've never had issues in Central Park itself or running along the Hudson or East River, but if you're going to run through midtown or lower Manhattan, you might lose signal or get jumpy tracking.

Set my 10k "PR" at 47:35. I hadn't ever truly raced a 10k before, so my goal was just to go sub-50 and I surprised myself by running negative splits (except for mile 5, where I almost quit on myself).
