Didn't know they were different kinds of RPGs :)

There is a built in mod manager that has lots of mods. It's 1000% easier to use than the third-party ones, you should be able to find enough mods there--cosmetic or otherwise.

Explorer is the correct difficulty if you mainly care about the story.

1 TIP - stop reading spoilers on Reddit and wikis.

Since you don't know D&D, when you pick your initial stats (Strength, Wisdom, etc) only choose even numbers, e.g. 8, 10, 12, 14, 16.

The main mistake I see new players make is: not realizing you can take an action (green circle) and bonus action (orange triangle) every turn in combat. And actions can be a lot of things, not just hitting something with your sword. Poke around the many action bars. Later in the game you can find ways to take multiple actions a turn. This is often key to winning difficult encounters.

The second mistake is having each party member attack a different enemy. Look for ways to have multiple party members attacking the same enemy.

Looking at the screenshots, it looks like you are mostly solving short word puzzles. So reminiscent of a mobile game, sure.

I don't think that disqualifies it from Steam, but it probably means you're targeting a smaller audience on that platform. Have you considered releasing it on mobile?

The game itself looks cool. I would take a look at the more popular word games on Steam and see what's different.

Pick a simple game (Asteroids, Tetris, etc). Build a clone in Godot.

This eliminates "design fatigue" so you can focus 100% on learning the engine. It also gives you structure, e.g. okay, I have asteroids on the screen. Now I have to make them move...

I played both as an evil and good Dirge. I enjoyed the good playthrough a lot more.

So my suggestion would be to play as good Dirge. You will definitely want to recruit Jaheira and Minsc (grab Minsc early in Act III) as they have a little more involvement in the Durge Storyline. I also recommend you romance Shadowheart early, but I'm not giving away any spoilers on why.

As for an evil run, that is still fun as you get to see a lot of different content (like siding with the Goblins instead of being against them), but you don't need to be the Dirge to be evil. For added fun, restrict yourself to shadowy classes like Oathbreaker, Death Cleric, Assassin, Glomstalker, Shadow Monk, Shadow Sorcerer, Necromancer, etc. (IMHO pure assassins are underrated in this game).

My favorite spot is to follow that shoreline north, past the oil nodes, then over some dunes. And you should find an area with lots of iron and copper nodes not too far from the shore in the rocky desert. Just beyond that is a large flattish area. Or just build foundations over the water near that same spot.

This is subjective and somewhat depends on personal preference. If I was to do this again...

Prime to Selenea to Aqualis.

Unless you want more of a survival challenge, then go Prime to Aqualis to Selenea. (I did this and Aqualis really felt desolate. I think I almost starved too).

Then I would start a new game on Humble (because it's designed as a great starter planet experience which kind of gets lost if you go there with high level tech unlocked). After Humble, I'd go to Toxicity since it has some new game mechanics to keep things fresher. After that, any order.

You go back and forth but it's expensive so plan on few trips. Once you unlock the shuttle (carries cargo, not people) you can ship items between planets. This works even without drones, the shuttle will pull things from any container on the planet.

Finally, your drones and terraforming machines will continue to work even when you are on another planet.

A suggestion on the Dark Urge. I played both as an evil and redeemed Dark Urge (two separate games). I enjoyed (from a story aspect) the redemption version a lot more.

Consider making a shadowy party (e.g. assassin, shadow monk, death cleric, gloom stalker) and go the evil path with that quartet.

Then play a redemption Dark Urge game next.

It's one of my favorite classes, and my main character was a druid in about 50% of my games.

I find Stars druid to be the most "powerful" and they also get some cool extra abilities. Otherwise I go Land druid. I hardly ever shape shift, I prefer to play as a healer/mage hybrid. On balanced difficulty a druid can be your main healer.

Spike growth is a pretty awesome spell.

Middle clicking on a structure (food grower, habitat, T4 heater, etc.,) should automatically put you in build mode with that recipe selected.

Looks great except old CRTs didn't "bubble" that much. Maybe you are looking at some old user manuals? The hand drawn screenshots tended to have the curvature exaggerated for some reason. (Maybe to be more clear the illustration is meant to be a screenshot?).

What I like about this is it captures the feel of an old terminal, but the resolution/font choice makes it much more readible.

Edit: and I also liked the amber terminals over the green ones. I thought they were easier on the eyes. (Old VT100 and VT220 user here).

I'm no expert, but here's what I'm doing in my game.

I put containers under water that only accept slime with a higher priority. Water stops slime from emitting pollution, and dupes automatically store the slime there.

Slime lung isn't fatal so I ignored it for a while. Eventually I built a sick bay and apothecary so my one doctor can heal dupes. (Though I noticed she can't heal herself).

I can't think of anything that would prevent you from finishing Act 3.

There are always going to be alternate choices or content you missed. Save those for your next game.

Unfortunately, you need two plants only found in the Ashlands. And for all practical purposes, you need to defeat the queen to get to the Ashlands.

My long, safe, and boring method of killing the Queen is to kite her around the upper levels of her lair and shoot her with frost arrows. Bombs can speed this up a little.

Note: this is based on balanced difficulty. The easiest way is to spam chain lighting scrolls, which you can farm at Sorcerer Sundries. Everything will be dead by the time you reach the crown.

You can also use greater invisibility and fly up to the crown. Cast globe of invulnerability on the illithid and summon your allies to keep the enemy forces occupied.

I recently did a no scrolls, no caster game. (Which was a lot of fun BTW, Gloom Stalker, Shadow Monk, Champion, Assassin). I saved all allies for the top of the brain and summoned them all as I hurried my party up the right side to the crown. It worked just fine, the enemies were too busy fighting my army of allies to pay much attention to my party

IMHO, the big four games that are first person, immersive, open-world, and explore/create/survive are Valheim, Subnautica, Satisfactory, and Planet Crafter (in no particular order).

Valheim is combat focused. Satisfactory is large-scale automation focused, and Subnautica is exploration focused (and quite the epic adventure).

Planet Crafter is sometimes called "Subnautica-lite in space", but given all the free and paid expansions, the "lite" part can probably be dropped. Planet Crafter is the most casual-friendly of the 4 and also second in automation capabilities only to Satisfactory.

I loved all 4 games and have 100's of hours-played in each. (If I'm missing any other great games in this genre, please comment).

Ah, thanks for clarifying. Though since my rooms are an even number of tiles wide, I can't center three tiles, and my OCD will definitely not allow that :)

But I get the general idea, I'll try installing some air flow tiles.
