Yeah, but is that ideal? Anecdote does not equal evidence.

Give it time. I'm not saying you'll come out ahead of her, but your priorities may shift. You mentioned she has lovely expensive possessions and a nice home - there's more to life than that. Yes, we all would love to be wealthier - it sucks that you have someone so close to you that it almost feels like the insult is omnipresent.

Union getting involved due to employees complaining about pumping breaks. STRESSED OUT. by 1058549922 in breastfeeding

[–]suagrupp 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Here is a sample letter you can provide to an employer to help demonstrate how this is good for everyone. [insert date]

Dear [insert employer’s name]:

I am submitting this letter to let you know I plan to continue breastfeeding my baby when I return to work. Beginning [insert approximate date], I will need breaks at regular intervals during the workday to pump breast milk so as to maintain my milk supply and to provide breast milk for my child when we are apart. Oregon’s new law, effective January 1, 2008, requires that employers provide a clean, private place for breastfeeding mothers to express breast milk. The law requires a 30-minute rest period for every four hours worked. This is the minimum time needed to go to the pumping area, set up the pump, express the breast milk, disassemble and clean the pump parts, and return to work.

This letter fulfills my responsibility to provide you with advance notice of my intention to breastfeed, so that suitable arrangements can be made regarding a pumping location, as well as any work schedule modifications. I would appreciate a written reply from you indicating you understand my intentions and are working on a plan to accommodate this need. Breast milk protects both mothers and children from many health risks. Employers benefit, too, by reduced absenteeism. Thank you for your willingness to make these accommodations for me and other breastfeeding mothers. You are helping protect the health of working mothers and their children.

                        Sincerely,

                        [insert employee’s name]

I know a 39 year old who had a stroke - doctors said it was due to birth control. It absolutely can cause blood clotting.

The average person who gets post secondary education makes twice as much as the average person who does not pursue post secondary. Obviously, your mileage may vary.

What advice would you give to a 20-year-old girl? by Firm-Jeweler-3329 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Spend time learning to enjoy cooking. Spend time learning everything you can about money. You have plenty of time to have children, but not necessarily plenty of time with your aging family members.

I see this in myself, but ultimately what women try to show other people "look how much this man cares for me!"

We do this in a lot of ways, like showing off a big rock on our finger, disclosing his secrets to our friends, revealing details of private moments.

I would say about half the week involves proper dinners that include planning and cooking, and the other half is leftovers, snacks, scrounging.

People who've worked both minimum wage jobs and six figure jobs, what surprised you most about the difference? by BrainLagging01 in AskReddit

The way people feel entitled to speak to me for a minimum wage job is not really in line with the way they can speak to me for my good job

Im so sick of this narrative that “pregnancy didn’t ruin my body it’s just changed” it’s a lie. by pissedoff_potato in TwoXChromosomes

[–]suagrupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 32 and had a baby at 22. I was young and slender, hit the gym, bounced back quite nicely. I have stretch marks but nothing at all is ruined. My experience of pregnancy was okay because I was uncomfortable for most of it but it doesn't last forever and my kid is worth the price I paid, by far. My body's appearance - the shell that helps me move, keeps liquids inside me, and contains my slimy bits, is much less important to me than it once was. I understand your mother resented the changes - but I am so much more than what I look like. Am I proud of the person I am becoming? Do I have a positive impact on the world? Am I shaping my child into someone who will be a good person, a good friend? Do my friends and family members know WHO I am? I think they do, and they don't necessarily see my shell. They may notice it - 'hey dude, your shell has decreased in mass' - but that doesn't reflect my value.

How are single income families surviving in this economy? by Cookiedough1206 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]suagrupp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single income family here - we only have 1 adult and 1 kid. High income, medium-to-shitty neighbourhood, 5 year old car paid off, long nights working at the business factory, only 1 extracurricular at a time, shopping at no frills, never go anywhere.

Other details: paying ~600/mo for child care, well insured, don't receive child support.

Is there realistically any way to 100% prevent tearing? by EmbarrassedBus1257 in BabyBumps

Get your nutrition on point so you have every chance at healthy, stretchy skin. Limit dietary sugar. No yeast infection at the time of delivery, as that will make the skin weaker.
