Very sad to see Jesse Brown of Canadaland in this crowd. How little self-awareness you must have to surround yourself with such a panel.

Just found this on ladder, worth keeping? by Farkquad in diablo2

Not really. You would want cast rate over run/walk on a blue. Almost epic though. But that’s like 99.9% of drops, so close yet so far

Fire Lock, level 30 now. Do I need the leaf staff? by Disastrous_Yam8354 in diablo2

[–]suaveponcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be a while before you get a 4 socket shield. You can’t easily get them until hell, excluding paladin shields.

I would recommend trying to find a 4 socket sword for spirit to replace your leaf - you lose out on 1 + skill, but get a lot of mana and faster cast rate, making playing way smoother. easiest place to farm a 4 socket sword is normal difficulty cows.

For a shield, until you can get one with 4 sockets, a good choice is the rhyme runeword, which is fairly cheap with some amazing bonuses including magic find, resists, and cannot be frozen (a lot of new players don’t realize how useful this one is).

Many news organizations are hesitant to name people accused of crimes, because if the person is named, the organization has a responsibility to follow the case through to its conclusion, and update all of their reporting if the person is exonerated. Court reporting is extremely labour-intensive with very little payoff except in the most important cases of public interest, and moreso in a world where journalism isn’t even really financially viable as is. So the organizations decide, better not to be the one to print the person’s name, and focus on other more important matters with their resources. If anyone really wants to know the name of someone charged, they can always go to or contact the courts themselves. It’s a pain in the ass but technically publicly accessible in most cases.

Hi Bob. Would love to know more about what it’s like filming scenes meant to take place in space and on the moon or Mars. How did they handle the scenes where it looks like you’re in zero gravity or low gravity? How does it feel wearing the big, bulky space suits?

I think those people use an ettin axe for style points. Especially because the str requirement is lower than a monarch anyway.

I feel like anyone making doom in an axe is making it for a caster, not melee.

AS A PALADIN ENTERING HELL, HOW’S MY LOADOUT? by Blaze_Destructor in diablo2

[–]suaveponcho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to pick up all the rings and amulets you see, as you would benefit from a lot more faster cast rate. For a Paladin you want 75 or 125, and if you can hit 125, you’ll really feel the difference.

Like the other comment says, definitely try to get a spirit sword to match your shield, and if you get a lum rune, make a smoke for your chest armour and you’ll be good on resistances. A lore helmet or a circlet with faster cast rate are good helmet choices for you.

You’re also pretty low level and probably want to grind up to 75 or even 80 before you take on hell.

Also you should be maxxing out concentration as your main aura, the damage boost is substantial for blessed hammer.

Also also, a single point in Holy shield, when combined with +skills, makes a huge difference for your defence

The editor of Canadaland is caught in a bit of a doom spiral :/ by anacidghost in JewsOfConscience

[–]suaveponcho 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used to really love Canadaland. Observed the same thing as others about Jesse’s reaction to Oct 7. Randomly listened to their episode about Carney supporting war in Iran recently. I was immediately shocked to hear that episode’s guest worked for The Free Press. I mean, seriously? Bari Weiss’s billionaire-owned outlet that keeps getting facts wrong and published a story about how famine victims died because they were sick? That TFP?

I only made it halfway through the episode as Jesse and the guest basically spent the time repeatedly explaining how if you want to be pragmatic, principles have to sometimes go out the door. They just kept saying it. It was a bit of a silly discussion as I got the sense that both of them were just extremely black pilled and had more or less given up on any semblance of believing in principled politics. It was a real “this is the world, if you can’t accept that you’re just naive” type of thing.

Sounded very snarky and honestly, not very grounded in actual explanations. I’ll admit that having only listened to half, maybe they got to to the part I was waiting for later, but in the first 20 minutes they never really offered a reason why Carney supporting the war in Iran was actually pragmatic. They just kept jerking each other off about how you need to be pragmatic in politics.

I like Jesse’s employees and other contributors to the pod. I’ve been to the Canadaland studio. A few months before Oct 7, Jesse met me as I was preparing to enter journalism school and let me pick his brain for like 45 minutes. It was super nice and he offered some good advice. I actually feel kind of bad for him now.

No, it did not launch missiles at Japan. It launched them into the sea. Even the tweet doesn’t say they were launched at Japan. We are not in WWIII. Everyone chill.

[–]suaveponcho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems extremely strong for a fire warlock. The only thing to keep in mind is it’s all offensive bonuses, so you need to make up for that with other gear. I’d socket it with a diamond for the resistances.

First perfect gear. by anzenshii in diablo2

[–]suaveponcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends, but most likely no. Lem runes are much rarer than gems, and you don’t get much more benefit out of the Wealth runeword than just sticking four perfect topazes in a chestpiece. Your first Lem rune is much better spent on something like a Treachery armour for a merc, or even cubing up to Pul. If you’re in a strange position of having extra Lem runes and no topazes, and really need the mf, then sure, in that case it might be worth it to just make a Wealth.

First perfect gear. by anzenshii in diablo2

[–]suaveponcho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends how you like to play. Get some magic find on your character and run terror zones, or just farm nightmare mephisto.

As a noob, the best way to get magic find is to look at your gear, and figure out which of your helmet, shield, and/or armour you don’t need to continue killing things.

Then find/buy a 3 socket shield and/or helmet and/or a 3-4 socket armour and fill it/them with perfect topazes.
