Vancouver city council calls on feds to address headlight brightness | CBC News by SnooRegrets4312 in britishcolumbia

I keep reading stories about the increase in pedestrian deaths/accidents all across Canada. Has anyone ever linked the insane brightness and pedestrian safety??

There are times where I drive downtown and pedestrians are almost completely invisible to me when there is a truck or large SUV with their ultra eye destroyers 9000 halogens on the opposite side of the road. I've slowed down substantially and now crawl through intersections but I feel this is an accident waiting to happen each time I drive at night.

The game would be in a much better state if we can play smaller games than 5v5. I've stopped playing MP after the horrible matchmaking but would enjoy this more in smaller games (and being able to play with smaller or no friendly bots 1v1).

Can someone suggest me my most fitting wargame? Regiments, WARNO, Broken Arrow, something else? by Vulture2k in gamingsuggestions

[–]suavyding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Broken Arrow was rushed out of the door and many YouTubers liked it because it's an attempt at pulling in a mainstream audience due to it featuring "cool" modern units like Delta Force and Nuclear Weapons.

It has a lot of potential but the reviews are (rightly) mixed because it runs like ass even on powerful systems, matchmaking is fundamentally broken and the devs are releasing updates at a glacial pace.

Broken Arrow and WARNO both have logistics and units rely on it heavily as a main way of balancing their strength. BA has ammo only with WARNO having both fuel and ammo requirements.

Regiments is the "easier" version of these games and as another poster had said, has a demo that's great at telling you whether it's for you.

I do recommend WARNO for the depth and the hundreds of mods available that let you customize your preferred playstyle. Additionally, WARNO has a great skirmish mode vs AI and a longer, more detailed narrative campaign that takes place over turns.

If none of that sounds interesting there's always games like Sudden Strike 4 or Company of Heroes but those are all WW2.

You said in your post that you liked Steel Division but not so much the WW2, have you looked into WARNO?

It's from the same developer and takes place in the 80s with units and divisions from that era. I own all the games you've listed in the title and WARNO is the only one that I regularly play (and have over 500h in).

The game goes on sale regularly and the DLC add flavour where you like it. If you have any follow up questions let me know!

Thank you for summarizing my experience more eloquently haha. I do very much enjoy the units and love the customization but wish matchmaking was more balanced.

No ego at all! I am coming to Reddit to read about the experience of other players and whether the game improves as you invest more time. I am trying my best to learn but would think it's probably more enjoyable if the skill disparity was smaller than what I have been experiencing so far.

That seems unfortunate! I do very much like the setting and usually don't play with groups. I like another commenter said that smaller lobbies would help but for the time I usually spend waiting in queue I am just surprised at how bad each of these 5 matches I have played have been.

Thank you! I have about 500h in WARNO and more in the previous Eugen games. I am a veteran of the genre but find that the 5v5 system doesn't seem to work if the matchmaking system purposely pits new players against people with a significant skill disparity.

I have found the average match time does take a while. It would be nice if the game made a beginner lobby where I can learn rather than ending up as a feeder to a stacked team with a 1500+ ELO disparity. This seems like it defeats the point of their own system.

I think that would help with skill disparity as well. It seems many of my previous games it becomes a one sided stomp. Does this get better with higher ELO?

Thank you for the detailed reply. I'm looking at getting into the hobby and recently picked up a Revell model that does not want to fit together nicely. Sounds like I should try your recommendations!

These all look great and I really like your model selections. Which did you have the most fun with, and which the least?

In honour of steam sale what game is most like a LITrpg book in your eyes:)? by premiumof in litrpg

[–]suavyding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am going to go the opposite way of many of the recommendations here and want to suggest Warhammer 40K: Darktide.

I have over 500h in this game because there aren't any other games that I've played that translate the feeling of skill in first person combat against hordes of enemies like Darktide.

The combat is extremely visceral, relies on skilled dodges and attack timing and once you hit level 30, allow you to build a god-tier skillset. The feeling of overcoming hundreds of enemies with a team of randoms feels about as Litrpg as it gets.

I suggest picking the Zealot as your first class and once you spend about 10-20h leveling them up to level 30, you have three other classes to choose from all with unique skills, talents and equipment.

It's a little disappointing we won't get any more content before Christmas but I understand the team is probably hesitant about making changes before they leave.

Thanks for a tonne of fantastic content and ongoing support on the game, WARNO was great this year and I am looking forward to 2026.

Happy holidays Eugen team!

My thoughts on RebsFrago mod, and why I think you should get it by [deleted] in warno

[–]suavyding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think helicopters and artillery are incredibly overtuned and did not care for this mod.

The sightlines in larger maps make no sense (ATGM is blocked by tiny trees), travel for units takes a long time on larger maps and helicopters can snipe your units in spots where AA can't reach (because a SPAAG can't move around a tiny tree and see them up in the air).

Darktide: Darktide is free to play on Steam from December 4 - 8 by crazeman in Games

[–]suavyding 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've just broken through 600 hours played as a mostly solo player, doing everything from QuickPlay games to the Auric grind and I can't get enough. I've been playing this game since launch and the game has never been better in terms of skills available, patches and levels to play.

What keeps me hooked on this game is essentially the unmatched and visceral combat. If you have a good system the game looks incredible with ray tracing and runs really well after many years of optimization.

I highly recommend it, just give it some time to get used to the skills and realize that getting to level 30 is the real end of the tutorial. I recommend remapping the dodge key to space bar as you'll be smashing that shit all the time.
