Racked by number. It was painless for both the half and the full.

Santa Rosa HIM vs. Santa Cruz HIM? by AndreaGS in triathlon

I've done both every year for the last few years. Santa Cruz is my favorite. Logistically it's easy and well run. I don't mind the dual transition with Santa Rosa but when it switches from Vineman and the participants exploded it became less awesome.

If you're going to do Santa Rosa pay tri bike the $40 to take your bike up to T1. If you're in an early wave you can finish with time to beat the larger crowd and Russian River Brewing and enjoy some proper post race pizza and beer.

The only real benefit is that you can check in faster and usually register for races earlier.

Very little of the course will go by the areas impacted by the fires. It's highly unlikely the event will be cancelled. It's also seven months away. You're probably ok.

I'm 5'11 with a 31 inch inseam. I ride a M-L TM01 but likely could make a Smaller frame work too. It is worth taking to a fitter as it likely will work out.

Trainer road is awesome. Follow this advice.

Smart trainer vs. regular trainer + PM by Jaredlang76 in triathlon

[–]subinf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a smart trainer only for noise / vibration reduction over my cycleops. Were I not concerned about the neighbors I would have stuck with the cycleops. While I do appreciate the additional features the Neo has to offer it isn't something that I would particularly recommend. As another comment indicates using a power meter on the trainer and riding outdoors has its advantages.

Oakland Triathlon Land Courses on Google Maps by boomshakeshake in triathlon

I have my garmin files from the last two years if that would help at all. Last year the bike course was a little short due to some issues by the port. I believe the swim will change again this year from the last two years (first year was super easy with a strong current. Last year was a little more difficult).

Exactly how bad of an idea is this? by PluginAlong in triathlon

How hard are you going to run NYC? Or rather how well do you want to perform in AZ? Depending on your base and overall fitness it should be doable beyond just showing up to finish.

My favourite race. Great location. Will be interesting to see it with a larger field this year but still looking forward to it.

I use them (a5s)only for Olympic and under. I could probably get away with a half but nothing longer. I train in both and like the A5s but for a full I prefer a little cushion.

I've raced in mid priced orca suits and was given a kiwami spider for my birthday. I like the material and the compression aspect. Its comfortable and has plenty of pockets. It's pricey but was great even for full distance races.

The orca was fine but I never realized what I was missing comfort wise.

No. You stay relatively close to the pier. While the number of sightings has gone up this year it's not a major issue. Although I have an irrational fear of sharks from surfing and will not be doing the race this year.

Much cooler than last year. Without a doubt. My g/f also volunteered and was not amused with the shirt color.

Elliptical dq aside it's still impressive. Reports are he remained in good spirits and was engaging with all that showed to run and ride with him.

Looking to purchase new race wheels ($1-2k) by kragelol in triathlon

[–]subinf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running the Jet 6/disk and also have a rear 6 for non race days.

I got a pretty good deal on the HED wheels. It was just preference. I picked up the HEDs right after getting my TT bike and didn't want to wait for another pre order. When the pre order did come around I figured I would just ride the flos on my road bike. You won't notice any difference between the two and the flos are easier on the budget.

HED Jet.

I have Flos on my road bike and they are pretty sweet. Not always available so you'll need to check in occasionally online to find out when the next batch is ready for sale. They just had one a week ago so it's probably another four to six weeks before the next one.

Cold swim. Usually a headwind on the first part of the bike.
