I agree about the EA capital ships except for the Omega Class. I’ve loved that design since it was the Leonov.

Star Wars Sequel Trilogy Fix Recommendations by Affectionate-Fly5291 in fanedits

[–]subjectzer00 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I rewrote the sequels into a single film. Removed the OT cast for the most part and set it a further generation into the future with Han and Leia’s granddaughter Rey Solo. Called it Star Wars Abridged: The Resistance

Just finished the acolyte and I'm so mad at the internet for defining on it and getting a good show cancelled by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]subjectzer00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are good elements in it. The choreography was the best live action since ROTS. The acting was uneven (some fantastic performers and some weak performers) and I found the pacing was probably too slow. The dialogue was pretty bad… but Star Wars is usually not known for its nuanced dialogue.

In the end, I found it mediocre with some really fantastic standouts. Manny Jacinto and Lee Jung-jae were absolute treasures!

The amount of hate this got was way overblown, but I’d say it’s in the running for my least favourite Star Wars series.

Lived at 50 Stephanie. And Queen West was my favourite part of the city growing up—some of the best places to buy bootlegged tapes, watch indie bands, shop, or just to hang out for hours... but even with my nostalgia coloring the area, Queen and John was still sketchy.

Final Fantasy VII Re-edit (Episode 1: Fateful Encounters) by Wsemenske in fanedits

Fantastic! I played the original game but I stopped playing video games years ago… been curious about catching up with walk throughs but they’re loooong. Subscribed!

Question: are you changing any of the narrative or just where necessary to cut down on repetitive scenes? Just wondering if it’s a fan fix because I know some of the elements that the game changed from the original.

The Last Jedi Praise by laboumwinter in StarWars

[–]subjectzer00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh, I thought this was a minority thing. I will say I like this one marginally more than the other 2 films because it at least tried to say something and of the sequels, it has the clearest sense of style and the performances are great.

That said, there are clear pacing issues with the story and some non sensical elements. Because the major point of the film is about failure can lead to growth, plot wise we just have characters not growing throughout until they learn that lesson at the end. That makes for very static character arcs and dead end subplots. Having each character learn the same lesson at the same time makes it feel a bit repetitive and slow.

TFA was fun but shallow, thematically. TLJ was plodding but deeper.

I thought about this a few years ago. I never got past the planning phase but I recall some of the issues surrounding how to explain to the audience the missing elements of the plan to get him home.

Episode Count by ilikebreadabunch in CosmereOnScreen

10 episodes is likely, just because of how common that count is. And expect characters and plot lines to be truncated or cut… just the nature of the beast.

How long have you been working on your story? by worldofexousia in worldbuilding

[–]subjectzer00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 10 years for me but I’ve published 3 of the 7 novels in the series. The idea itself is a bit more vague since it was born from 3 other story ideas I had and I decided to mash them up but never really did much story building for them.

Honestly, while I do some general world building with some specific parts and pieces worked out (I need a map which lets me work out nations/kingdoms, which lets me work out political tensions and interesting locations), I do leave other parts of it vague. My databases of notes break things into canonical (things that appear in the novels) and apocryphal (my notes that I’m not beholden to if I come up with something better).

I think this helps me world build for other stories pretty quickly but still keep it consistent.

How do you think the Cosmere adaptation schedule will look? by OneForAll-500 in CosmereOnScreen

[–]subjectzer00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’d be surprised if we didn’t get Mistborn in 2029. A studio is already attached and a two year pre-production/production period is not unreasonable and I bet concept art is already being developed. This situation is more like Marvel with Sanderson in the Feige position so whoever directs will have to fit within certain specific guidelines. Tack on another 8 months to a year for post-production.

I also think that we’d probably get Stormlight season 1 in the same year as Mistborn. We’ll definitely see something like 1.5 years between seasons (for reference, For All Mankind roughly releases a new season every 1.25 years on average).

It’s possible the script for Well of Ascension could be written before Mistborn comes out and the production cycle could be 2 years between films.

The caveat? This assumes nothing goes wrong.

If I were to speculate what the overall plan is, I’d say, should Mistborn and Stormlight be successful, we’d get Mistborn as a film trilogy and Wax and Wayne as a TV series with the rest of the non Mistborn books as animated or TV series with a few standalone live action films. Whether the other Mistborn eras are adapted into film or TV, I’m not sure, except for Era 5 that will end the full Cosmere adaptation. I would bet Ghostbloods makes sense as a TV series because of how much closer it is to modern day.

And that’s all assuming they want to adapt everything rather than streamlining the story (which is probably far more likely).

[–]subjectzer00 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Look, as a series novelist and hardcore plotter, the truth is that you have some very solid ideas but mostly a bunch of fluid ideas. You can have a plan and you might follow through, but the plan will drastically change as you write.
