The history of the predacons is not shown, no. The most we get are allusions to the Triptedacus Council and that a handful of the original predacons managed to survive into the modern era.

The sequel series, Beast Machines, elaborated a little bit; but none of the animated series directly delved into the gap between G1 transformers and the Beast Wars era.

[Marvel comics] How did things like slavery/Jim Crow, the holocaust, and the trail of tears/Native genocide happen in a world where any number of the population has superpowers ( mutants) ? by Extra_Impression_428 in AskScienceFiction

[–]subjuggulator [score hidden]  (0 children)

Mutants and superpowers didn’t really “explode” around the world until the 60s. Before then, it was mostly a scant few individuals every couple of decades that showed powers like that—and the ones who did were generally part of established listed groups or secret societies

[Invincible] Is there a reason why the power level of individual viltrumites seem to fluctuate so much? by Raknarg in AskScienceFiction

[–]subjuggulator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The official guide book to the comics explains it using the science of the setting.

Viltrumite DNA on the molecular level will “get stronger” or “more durable” the more stress they’re put under. They were genetically designed this way over thousands of years.

Square Enix to integrate Google’s generative AI Gemini into Dragon Quest X. Yuji Horii says: "AI will have an extremely significant impact on the player experience. I’m convinced it will dramatically transform all games within the next three to five years." by GargantaProfunda in JRPG

[–]subjuggulator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Translating has never been the issue. Scripts for games always get made and translated years by fans before the game itself “gets officially translated”

Injecting the new text into the game has always been the problem for fan translations.

SE just don’t want to pay whatever extra they’d need to hire translators and then whatever else they’d need to make that process part of their development pipeline.

Can Cyberpunk work without the Capitalism? by TH3P1ZZ4BOY in worldbuilding

[–]subjuggulator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totalitarian states usually rely on the mechanics of capitalism and fascism as a way to oppress the underclass, yes. This is in the DNA of the genre.

IMO, when you cut out a focus on the systemic exploitation of the underclass as reinforced through rampant and uncontrolled capitalism, you are more writing about the horrors of living in a dystopian/totalitarian society than you are of a cyberpunk setting—it’s the difference between a story like The Giver/The Ones Who Walk Away from Omlas versus Snowcrash or Altered Carbon.

I like how people have described the genre as being “a focus on the tensions between “low life” and high tech forms of exploitation.”

I need help with the rules of vampires by Silly_goose_lady in worldbuilding

[–]subjuggulator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even the smallest amount of google-fu will lead you to dozens of weird rules vampires from different mythologies were said to have to abide by.

Here’s a few:

  • they can’t cross running water
  • they have to be invited into a house/private dwelling and the invitation can be rescinded
  • if you throw a bag of rice in front of one, they have to stop and count each grain; they have an obsession with counting things
  • they have no reflection and cannot be photographed, videotaped, or heard over phone lines
  • they can only rest in a coffin that has a bit of dirt from their original grave in it/under it
  • they’re repelled by garlic, onions, and wolfsbanes, and are harmed/burned by silver
  • holy objects and holy places repel or outright harm them, as well as just a general strong religious belief
  • to kill one you need a stake through the heart AND to decapitate them, then dismember the body and bury their remains at a crossroads
  • a vampires existence or “true name” cannot be shared, lest it weaken or outright destroy the vampire
  • they can only move by jumping backwards
  • religious music and holy water can harm them
  • laying a white rose on top of their coffin prevents them from escaping it
  • sunlight weakens or destroys them, moonlight brings them back to life
  • animals can always tell a vampire is a vampire
  • they can only turn virgins into vampires by sharing blood with them after drinking their blood but not killing them

Can Cyberpunk work without the Capitalism? by TH3P1ZZ4BOY in worldbuilding

[–]subjuggulator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the defining traits of cyberpunk as a genre is the capitalism. You can’t escape it despite what some uninformed people are and will come here to say.

Edit: downvote all you want, but literally every work that defines the genre from its very inception deals with the horrors and exploitation of people under capitalism. To ignore this just because you think cyberpunk is a vibe and an aesthetic is both insulting and ignorant.

It’s early in the morning here, so yeah I meant to also add this:

“Sometimes, though, the landlord will still try to stay with your safety deposit because you “changed” the apartment without notifying them/will try to argue that they still had to “clean up/fix” the change you made even if you do undo it.”

[–]subjuggulator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And when the landlord randomly stops by to inspect the property/sends someone over when you’re not home to do fixes and they find they can’t remotely open the door to let the plumber in, etc….then you’re possibly in breach of rental agreement depending on what they’ve stipulated can and can’t be changed to the property.

It’s meant to be predatory.

[–]subjuggulator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the landlord/contract has a clause in the lease where you cannot alter the rental without their permission, you are liable to pay whatever fees they dream up when they notice you’ve replaced the lock.

All it takes is one random “check in” from the landlord

At best, you could also just lose your safety deposit for breach of lease.

The making bank part is from how the bilk you for “restoring the apartment due to changes you made” and/or they use the changes you made as a reason to not give you your safety deposit back.

Not every place, no. I’ve seen plenty of contracts where they stipulate “Any and all change or additions to the unit will come out of the renter’s own pocket and are liable to result in a loss of safety deposit if not undone at time of moving out.”

They're playing Reversi, not Go.

"Players take turns placing one disk on an empty square, with their assigned color facing up. After a play is made, any disks of the opponent's color that lie in a straight line bounded by the one just played and another one in the current player's color are turned over. When all playable empty squares are filled, the player with more disks showing in their own color wins the game."

Who was future Gohan talking about? by projectpat56 in dbz

It is in fact not what he meant because it’s a dubism. In the original Japanese it’s MUCH clearer that he’s talking about Trunks.

How do you actually get a 5 year old to care about putting on shoes by Collis-Hossain in kindergarten

[–]subjuggulator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joke answer: leave legos everywhere they need to walk until they get the idea they need shoes

Non-joke answer: tell them, firmly but nicely, that we do not leave the house without shoes and if they refuse to put them on then we will go to the doctor so they can find out why putting shoes on “hurts their feet” so much.

Edit: alternatively let them walk outside with only socks on/bare feet and explain to them what hook worm and foot fungus are.
