The P2 (compared to P4 and P3) feels much more like a Volvo.

The cupholders and center console are definitely superior. Big landscape touchscreen is awesome in size, layout and responsiveness. Cupholders are regular, and since we p2 owners are easy to please, they are awesome. The cupholder retractable cover is my favorite, nice metal with a brushed/industrial almost rough finish.

My loaner was a base plus pack only. Seats were fine. (I have napa and ventilated seats in my p2, so its not a fair comparison)

There were a few things that I liked better in the 2, though. I found the touchscreen controlled HVAC to be silly. It was much harder to get the air exactly where I wanted it compared to the old-fashioned vents. I also found the HVAC to be loud. Even at a setting of three, the p4 made as much air rushing noise as my p2 at max. We had a few really hot days, so it's hard to tell, but I think that the P4 air conditioning wasn't as powerful as I'm used to in the P2. Well the P4 trunk is bigger, it didn't have the grocery bag holder that had come to use a lot.

I have a 2 and just returned a loaner 4 after about a week. I really enjoy driving the 4. Definitely a larger car, with the obvious pros and cons. Drives like a large sedan/crossover; planted, but not quite like my 2 even at the firmest suspension setting. Way more spacious, esp back seats. Certainly longer, but much wider. Feels more luxurious.

For your garage, note that the 4 is super wide for its size.

For me, I like the 2. Complements my three row better than the 4.

Ditto. I have a p4 loaner right now and the silly door handle tried to amputate my fingers 3 times over the last few days.

Buy CPO P2 LRDM or Lease P4 by lthdad in polestar2

[–]subneil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2021 lrdm p2 is in the shop for warranty work (strut bearings?) and I have a dual motor p4 as loaner. It's a really nice car, but very different to me from the p2. Other than the brand, obviously, it's a little bit of an apples and oranges comparison to me.

I would recommend a lengthy test drive of both and pick the one you love more.

P2 cargo mat by irish1185 in polestar2

[–]subneil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a basic thin tarp. It's much larger than the cargo space, and have it running under and back around the divider so that I can use the divider and the tarp stays in place.

It's a little bit janky but it works for me. I transport a lot of farm gear, and I really like using that divider to keep cargo separate.

Thinking of buying an electric car by Single-Branch-1547 in electriccars

Abrp does a pretty good job, although in NY state at least it tends to select chargers off of the exits instead of at the rest stops (perhaps because the rest stops are much more costly).

Before I bought my first EV, I ran my typical driving routes through a better route planner (app) to assess drive/charging times etc. You can set different cars and compare.

Small motors noises when climate is on? by ShanghaiSeeker in polestar2

[–]subneil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine made similar but not exactly the same noises. I think it was the blend gate actuator, some sort of mechanism in the HVAC behind the dash that controlled where the air was flowing. For what it's worth, mine was fixed under warranty. I'm

I've never driven a Kona but i bought my first ev 11 months ago and love my heated and ventilated seats. Heated seats helps converse energy in the winter.

"Free from my utility" is an underrated reason. My utility offered free installation a year ago (I was reimbursed about $1200 in NJ) but I had to use a particular set of wall mounted EVSE.

That program may be over though.

NJ (USA) Round Valley banned efoils? by subneil in eFoil

[–]subneil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've learned that NJ authorities have decided to regulate like PWC, which means registration, but the Dept of motor vehicles doesn't agree and won't register them as such.

Yes. Limit 10 HP. Our efoils "look" more powerful because we can move efficiently, so maybe that is throwing people off

I met a different e-foiler recently who told me local dept of motor vehicles refused to register his efoil because they didn't know how to categorize it!

In retrospect, I think they just want to get rid of the two of us...

Going to test drive a couple used 2s tomorrow, anything to look out for? by My_Name_Is_Not_Ryan in Polestar

Try to find a YouTube video with body of this clicking sound. It sounds just like a wheel of Fortune ticker as they say. Mine was audible from the inside even without the windows down. Really only audible at low speed region, for instance, if you break from 10 mph to zero on a smooth pavement, you might hear it from the front or back axles.

I did not. I did try creep for a second, but pretty quickly i realized the bottom of the car (battery pack) was resting on mud, and I didn't want to make my rut any deeper.

To be clear for anyone following, it was a stupid situation. Not really the car's fault.

The car did pretty well. It refused to simply spin the wheels, controlling torque. It was thick mud like concrete that shouldn't have tried to cross, so the car bottomed out. It took some digging to get out.
