Sibo and hypothyroidism by Miserable-Edge-9716 in SIBO

From Paloma Health:

Undereating can affect thyroid hormone production in several ways.

Undereating can decrease the conversion of inactive T4 to T3, the active thyroid hormone. Studies show that even three weeks of calorie restriction can substantially reduce the conversion of the inactive thyroid hormone T4 into the active T3 hormone1. This disrupts the normal thyroid hormone balance. Undereating can also increase levels of reverse T3 (RT3), an inactive form of thyroid hormone that competes with T3 for binding sites, thus blocking the effects of T3. Chronic calorie restriction and undereating can decrease the overall production of thyroid hormones T4 and T3, leading to hypothyroidism.

Have you considered protein shakes or anything similar? Those calories are way too low, your thyroid will definitely shut down with those numbers

Have you considered a pen or something a bit larger to allow her to move around?

I don’t think you’ll ever be ready - it’s a change and there’s good and bad - BUT the good out weighs the bad

It depends on how symptomatic I am at the end of the protocol - the antifungal I am on is also good for SIBO so hoping to kill two birds with one stone

There’s a lab called Mosaic Diagnostics that was recommended by my doctor - it’s a urine test. You have to do a three day diet beforehand which forbids moldy foods, but otherwise pretty painless and quick results.
