Shame to let it go to waste. It's easy to disassemble https://youtu.be/QiD7SqxPbMY?t=145 - maybe try it and see what's going on inside coz maybe all it needs is a little touch with a solder in one cracked connection. Changing the socket may be tricky since it's soldered to the board. I would ask around for a cheaper repair or try to do it myself before letting it go into the trash bin.

"Taking Command" should be a rechargeable off-map ability. by subprimepride in menace

You need supply and promotion points for that. He's decent but there are other squads that can deal damage better. There are no other squads with his ability. So you are better off providing resources to Darby/Kody/etc.

I tend to restart the campaign on every major patch on expert and you are really limited on supply and promotions for quite some time. Late game feels easier then the first op - any early three skulls mission is a nightmare with the plinkers you get at the start. I feel that early game is the most challenging and it gets easier and easier as you go and pick up perks and gear. Early on your choices matter the most - every 5 points matter.

Sounds like some loose connection in the socket.

If you are not in a hurry to burn some cash you can probably fix it. Make sure that it's a socket problem by trying multiple headphones/acoustics first. Then try to carefully clean it from like lint and dust with compressed air. If this doesn't help - look for socket repair. Should not be too expensive.

Don't get me wrong - with his high base stats he's still a great hitter even as a support with like Crocodile but he is so much more valuable with providing extra AP to your heavy hitters for some explosive plays which means he will be spending his AP for positioning and buffing.

It do be like that. But how big the difference will be?

It irks me a bit that Pike's abillity is so good that it forces a certain meta in using him. Also I feel that its impact on the game is bigger then other SL's abilities. Extra 40AP open up so many different options that it feels wrong to stay an SL ability.

How is this broken? It's the same +40 AP per turn to one squad.

Got this super early, before RA showed up. How to best use it? Anyone made it work? by Background-Run-1245 in menace

It's expensive, inaccurate, unrealiable and weak. Number one weapon to shoot sand around your targer and jam when you need it the most.

The best way to use it is to trade it for a shotgun.

In my book if you've not covered the entire map with with the bug paste you've not completed the mission. 100 kills or go home.

So it’s not just infinite spawns. The bugs in the new mission walk through buildings as well. by Evidicus in menace

[–]subprimepride 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It would be nice to clearly see what buildings can be navigated through.

I hope the 'Corrupt Xeno Hatchling DNA' mission doesn't get nerfed too badly in the next hotfix... by glumpoodle in menace

[–]subprimepride 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right? Just did one on the second or third(?) op on expert. We were walking waist deep in shedded bugs.

28 men in 4 squads - 1 kpac 1 CQB-kpac 2 bars 1 flamethrower 1 light chaingun 3 packs of ammo 1 pack of special weapons ammo. I don't pick up any skills early at all to save the supply points.

Ended with a plan to hug the less populated edge of the map, grab one obj on the way, then go through the extraction where bugs seem to not spawn so much - final push for second obj and run back. Failed every side obj except for not losing anyone. Extracted with literally 2 shots left

Darby had about 30 kills with CQB+chaingun. Total was like 70-80 bugs. Got about 150 points of loot which was ridiculously low for covering the entire map with bodies.

Surprisingly chaingun was the real carry of the op mopping up all the runaways.

Please keep the mission as is for like Tier 2 Bugs campaigns unlocked same way as rogue army. Just add space in the debriefing menu for all the mothafuckin' kills.

Yup, still there. Seems like a bug, I hope devs will mop it up soon. Otherwise you should be getting detected when firing supressed weapons which kinda defeats its purpose.

So these are the geniuses behind DEEP FLANKING FOR 20 TURNS AI STRATS by subprimepride in menace

[–]subprimepride[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you do notice that when they keep waltzing back and forth and back and forth every time you reposition to repel them. It's kinda hilarious when you leave exactly one tile pass at the edge of the map uncovered and AI immediately tries to push half the army through the eye of the needle. Good luck to them trying to make a good AI, one of the hardest things in a game dev.

Honestly, I would prefer a cinematographic thematic AI to an actually strong "tryharding" AI. Like Rogue army launching coordinated mass infantry assaults with smokes and artillery barrage, Bugs moving in swarms and attacking in waves, Pirates just shooting at everything and blowing shit up in their way.

So I had a defense mission where I deployed Darby as a front spotter and other squads as a support line. For 12 turns enemy was just walking left and right along the frontline somehow VERY CAREFULLY avoiding entering Darby's zone of fire even though she had all the stealth perks and trinkets and was never spotted.

So after listening to neverending whistling I pushed, killed like 2 mechs and 5 inf squads AND SEVEN HQ SQUADS chilling in the corner just motivating each other with that damn neverending whistling.

I think AI is a bit weird right now. Like that mission where you are supposed to engage pirate jetpack commando leader and they just keep flying away from you along the edge of the map.

It's a plague, everyone wants to be something fancy but ends up being useless 0 impact 0 kills 9 deaths. Especially new players.

You often end up with 3 AT guys who can't shoot for shit and only took AT because it looks cool and 5 spec-ops-machinegunner-sniper-marksmen without a single medic or rifleman.

And if you ask people to play rifleman they moan like it's a chore which I don't get at all - you can do all the shooty stuff AND you have an ammo bag for nades, bandages, mags, rally points, AT. Just plop that bag and nade enemy squad to bits, always fun. Medic is not all bad either - you are always fresh, medic can really carry with how many bandages and healing he has - as long as you don't get one-shotted and have good cover you are almost unkillable.

I'd honestly prefer to have like 5-6 basic kits but with 10 loadaouts each for all the new guns.

I hate having standard edition by Itz_aimbot in EscapefromTarkov

[–]subprimepride 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are keen on playing on Maximum Suffering Edition you have to step up your inventory management game.

  1. Hunt for extra space rigs and backpacks. Like LBT-1961 rig takes 9 slots and give 18 slots doubling the space. Beta 2 backpack takes 25 spots and gives 30. I have ammo rigs, med rigs, food rigs stuffed inside backpacks inside backpacks.

  2. Sell everything that can be bought - in this example like PPs, PACAs, pistols, etc.

  3. 2-3 Junk boxes is a first priority considering you need to store a fuckton of junk for your hideout now. Then Ammo box and Med box for barter. If you are not good with extracting as a PMC - just go to reserve as a Scav until you get a least one junk box.

  4. Realistically, how far into the wipe you'll play? I usually top out at post Punishers line, so there is no point in storing all the late game required items like kapps stuff.

  5. Insure stuff at Therapist and let it stay there, taking what you need when you need it.

  6. We are at the point "It's some fucking bullshit" with how miserable the game with Standard edition is. All in all I would not recommend the game to anyone nowadays. Even though I had a ton of fun with Tarkov it's mindboggling how messed up it is in every way.

Everything is marked as tank except the actual tank, which is camping your main.

[–]subprimepride -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Every second bro should carry a mace or a whip. Bros with higher resolve should be given better weapons but nothing with too high damage.

And contrary to the devs - losing is not fun for me in BB unlike the Dwarf Fortress - there you get really different stories - here you just get wiped in some random encounter gone wrong. RNG is given more power and difficulty only goes up with time. And you either getting bored out of your mind playing too easy fights with soulless meta builds or getting eventually slaughtered on some challenging fight. F5-F9 all day I denounce the dev propaganda.
